Obama's team

The president-elect introduced his security team today, including Hillary Clinton as secretary of state; Janet Napolitano as head of Homeland Security; Eric Holder for attorney general; Gen. James Jones as national security advisor; Robert Gates to stay at Defense, and Susan Rice to the UN.

"In this uncertain world, the time has come for a new beginning -- a new dawn of American leadership to overcome the challenges of the 21st century, and to seize the opportunities embedded in those challenges. To succeed, we must pursue a new strategy that skillfully uses, balances, and integrates all elements of American power: our military and diplomacy; our intelligence and law enforcement; our economy and the power of our moral example.

"The team that we have assembled here today is uniquely suited to do just that. They share my pragmatism about the use of power, and my sense of purpose about America's role as a leader in the world." PE Obama 1Dec 2008

future Sec's Gates and Clinton are to demonstrate to the world "the power of our moral example" ?

please forgive me Mr. Nader, i fell for it - muleboy303

Aww.. Muleboy, there were lots of warnings from some here on this blog that Mr. Obama wasn't the liberal's liberal that some thought. He was always centrist and even a little right of center on occasion. His time at the law review indicated he was no big time lib, and his stand on healthcare, the death penalty and his reaction to the DC gun law also demonstrated that.

He's doing just fine, but if you were fooled it was because you didn't check out what was there about Obama and just believed the r/w hype that he was the most 'liberal' in the senate. I honestly believe that was just because the decision had already been made to run for president.

true, true... i doth remember the warnings. the ptb hath found them another willing and able hustler to mark the time between blue-bloods padding their resumes. and instead of another largely ineffectual but at least semi-moral Carter, we are to be treated to an amalgam of corrupt corporate cronyism that combines the worst of George Herbert Walker's 'diplomacizing/coalition building', Clinton's 'triangulating sophistry', and George W's 'top-down deficit spending' with strings attached.

will "the power of our moral example (of american "leadership") become as big a lie as Bill's "the most ethical administration in history" ? time will tell, but for me, it will now be ever so much fun to watch.

I took a few verbal/text beatings from more than a few of my fellow progressives due to my vote for Nader.

Until I told them they were sadly mistaken if they thought Ralph kept me from voting for Barack. Ralph kept me from voting Socialist.

Anyway, at least the country one good appointment out of four... beats Bushco by 25 percent. Good luck Janet!

The new sec. of state will be better than the present sec. that had an oil tanker named after her.

MuleBoy your calling Obama a "willing and able hustler" makes me wonder just who you would like to see as President. Please don't tell me you supported the munchkin Kucinich.

With the exception of Jones and Gates who are very able and highly qualified for their jobs, God help us. What a joke the others represent. God save this Republic!!!!!!
