Situation wanted
Bud Cummins, the former U.S. attorney in LR, couldn't have asked for a better resume builder than the interview in the D-G today about his employment travails since he was forced out of office by the Bush administration.
Might he still have political aspirations? I ask because I thought he was mighty kind in dismissing any political conspiracy in the mass U.S. attorney ousters. Just rogue operators helping friends, Cummins figures. Maybe. But I think the reporting has revealed plenty of political machinations extending into the White House on several of the appointments. And it remains an interesting question about what might have happened in Arkansas this election year had Tim Griffin held onto the slot created for him.
The subject also merited a mention of U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor's key role in forcing the dirty business into the sunshine.

Comments
The fact that Bud Cummins is still a Republican and still thinking aw shucks, them Bushies just got all mixed up is enough for me to never cast a vote for him for the rest of my life. I can't believe a grown man would still be so naive at this point, so Bud must still be some kind of water carrier for the dark side.
After all, the neo-cons wiped their ass with Bud Cummins and then held it up for the whole country to see. If everything within him isn't telling him to run as hard as he can from the party that kicked him to the curb.....then he has no business in government. Just watch for a good dog bite case and quit dreaming of a house at the lake, Bud.

and he continues to apologize:
"He also noted, "I never felt like I was speaking out against the president. I felt like the president didn't have the facts. I was really speaking out against underlings."
In case you tune in Bud, it's the environment you were in. It's been called a "culture of corruption." As other attorneys confirm being 'let go', fired, ect. by that group is a
badge of honor. Wear it proudly.
Reporter Satter, you too did an outstanding job without mentioning or wading into the
underlying reasons for Bud being fired and the lawyer criminal, Griffin, being installed.
A parting note to Bud; in the event you never heard about it Herr Rove was intent upon
establishing a 1000 year reign (Reich ?) for Republi-Cons. Part of your jobs was to further that
end by bringing hoaxed charges against sitting Democrats at the federal AND state level.
See Gov Seligman files.

Crediting Mark Pryor in this story.. the way the media (and I include Max in this critique) is dishonest if nothing else by omission of the facts / full story.
Arkansas and indeed the nation may very well have escaped suffering the criminal Republican DOJ enterprise.. had he not approved of virtually every single nominee presented to the U.S. Senate by Bushco. Namely in this circumstance.. every single federalist appointee and especially Alberto Gonzales for Attorney General.
Mark was also the last person to get a clue about the Griffin fiasco... only when he could hold out no longer did he feign dismay and pretend to give a hoot.
And he turned around in D.C. only to continue appointing the very worst nominees without a pause.

ES, I've said all along that Mark was doing some PMA and that is not a "positive mental attitude"
but,
PROTECT MY ASS.
He sniffed out a conspiracy that could be used against him similar to the way David Sanders got the lie circulating about Pryor's use of an undocumented domestic worker who wasn't properly paid during the 2004 election. All a lie but made headlines which Mark had to address.
