Buckle up

Filed today is a bill to make mandatory seatbelt use a primary offense. That is, a motorist could be stopped solely for failure to buckle up.

And the Conway Police Department cheers.

I'm so glad that more stringent laws are being introduced for us little people. By god I hope we're all in prison someday soon! This is especially rich as Bush rewrites history on his farewell tour and Obama says we must look forward and not back.

When a cop stops me in my 1988 Ford truck and takes me to jail for not wearing my seat belt, I'm going to scream LOOK FORWARD NOT BACKWARD! If he asks me if I was buckled up I'm going to whip a Bradley Schlozman on him and LIE like a FK'ing dog. There's no reason to follow any laws these days. What's fair for the top is fair for the bottom.

Hopefully soon they'll combine seat belt and cell phone and grass height and cars in the driveway laws and start executing us little people on sight! Just go on and grind us to death, but who'll pay your taxes when we're gone? Buckle up my ass!

Dumb and dumberer.
Primary seat belt law should get super liberals like Max all worked up, but he won't.
The law would give police officers almost unlimited probable cause to stop any vehicle they wanted.
Racial profiling?
Nope, that black man, driving a nice car through Conway wasn't racially profiled, he was stopped because he wasn't wearing his seat belt.
And on and on it goes.
You can't legislate away stupidity and not wearing your seat belt, in most cases, is stupid. But what is more stupid is giving overzealous cops more unchecked power.
How does one prove that they were wearing a seat belt?
It is almost impossible, so cops everywhere will be able to pull over whomever they want, anytime they want.

There is nothing liberal about Max's support of this type of law. (If indeed he supports it).

The world has gone stark raving control freakish.

I have never failed to wear a seat belt since a college friend got submarined under the dashboard and pinned. His description of the total terror of being trapped, smelling the gas pouring from the gas tank, and watching the workers, firemen and police walking around, some with lit cigarettes, made me and a number of other college friend believers in seat belts.

However, this law is bad and will probably be declared unconstitutional for Crash Davis' reasons. I have to say that voluntary seat belts and no airbags probably contribute more to the improvement of the gene pool than this law will.
