Enabler's farewell

Frank Rich has written a devastating summary of the Bush years. It forgets to mention one thing -- how he and others in the big city press helped Bush ascend with their sneering putdowns of Al Gore. The one Bush strong point that Rich cites -- an ability to spin propaganda -- gulled Rich, too, back in the day. Love Story, Love Canal, earth tone clothing, inventing the Internet. Rich dutifully regurgitated it all, making a carciature of a far better man.

America's biggest terrorists threat will be leaving office January 20th. HooRah!

I'm still barely able to read Rich, but this does look like a good one. I like Max's use of the words "sneering putdowns" in relation to Rich and others in the "liberal" media. They were, indeed, hugely responsible for Bush getting to squat in the WH for 4 yrs and then were unable to stop themselves from making fun of Kerry in '04. They do love the sound of their own searing jokes and get off on how cute they can be when they do their faux news impersonations. This same "sneering" crowd were quite instrumental in the rise of Barack Obama and recent columns indicate they are having second thoughts. Well, Mr. Rich, in a time of 30-second sound bite politics, we get what you help give us.

Yup, I remember when my Monkeyboys were met by long lectures from ALMOST everybody (AT blog an exception...'cause I wasn't around then); to be against the Holy All-American War was tantamount to treason. And, Rich was only one of many so-called liberal talking heads who regurgitated everything Rove was selling...especially the lies about Gore/the War. Of course, and to be honest, I'm use to being out there on the fringes; so at the time I didn't think they were quite as horrid as hindsight/truth have revealed them to be. But I'll never understand how so many bought so much crap in such a small amount of time. (Perhaps horrid Republican-God Reagan laid the foundation years ago.)

And to think that I thought Monkeyboy's Supreme Court Selection was a once-in-a-lifetime miscarriage of justice...up until the horrid Neocon's War was sold to us. Which was so obviously based on lies that I still don't understand most of the hows/whys. The worst of the talking-head crap is that despite being wrong about pretty much EVERYTHING...most of the goobers who gave us President Shit for Brains/the War are still with us earning big fat paychecks to keep on selling us their nonsense. I have COMPLETELY quit watching them...except maybe the occasional Olbermann.

At least a few have confessed their sins, admitted they were wrong...but given the state of our country and the thousands of dead from the war in Iraq, I'm not much into political forgiveness these days. And, at least Bill's sins primarily hurt him/his family...whereas Republican sins of the last eight years have taken a devastating toll on the entire world...self-serving warmongering greedy bastards all.

Whomever was behind 9-11 understood us better than most of us understand ourselves. WHich makes me wonder every time I read suggestions of an inside job. 'Twas that or Osama (or whoever) along with a lot of evil possessed pure genius.

And far to many continue to defend Dem leadership, past and present, for things like genocidal sanctions upon innocent Iraqi's and Palestinians (Deliberately starving someone to death is as bad a bombing them to kingdom come, imo.). Deregulation support..and bailing out criminals. For things like embracing the NAFTA style agreements.. And for supporting egregious MIC spending.. and deadly environmental and energy policies.

Both parties are casting our constitution and rule of law aside.

Of course the Bush Cheney administration took it to a while new degree (just the torture meme demonstrates that so well) which must be prosecuted or we will repeat it. The very fact so few sitting members of the senate or congress say so.. is most alarming of all.

See what a great government we have? See why the rest of the world hates us the way we used to hate the old USSR?

UNITED NATIONS (AP) -- The United States has blocked approval of a U.N. Security Council statement calling for an immediate cease-fire between Israel and Gaza's Hamas rulers, diplomats said.

I did not vote for Al Gore nor Monkey Boy in 2K. But I did sit in a restaurant that Nov and declare to the rightwing restaurant owner that the election is a FRAUD. She and I had a very heated argument.

To me and about 15 friends it is still FRAUD. It will remain a FRAUD well past my dying days.
