I have absolutely no problem with grown folks getting together to pray. More power to you. Pray away.
I do have somewhat of a problem when legislators/state employees feel the need to spend their (our) time inviting other legislators/state employees to join in the praying time, on official legislative stationery, distributed by state employees (presumably). Nice that the prayer meeting is also being held in a state building and is being led by the official state chaplain.
Forming a Legislative Prayer Caucus smacks of a political dare. I dare you, fellow legislators, to not join the Prayer Caucus! I dare you, ACLU, to challenge our right to pray! I dare you, liberal media, to make something of it. Seems to cheapen the whole thing.
Sheesh, I'm not gonna bite. If you wanna pray, pray. No need to notify all of your colleagues first or put the imprimatur of government on it. Last time I checked, you don't need a license to get your pray on.

It's like eating shrimp is ok, VERY public praying is too popular and is overlooked.
In the Catholic church they call the ones which pick and choose which Bible parts to observe "Cafeteria catholics".
Sing along now!
Shall we all gather in the basement
the beautiful, the beautiful basement
Gather with the saints in the basement
That is under the throne of god.

I'm with Lorax on this one, let the dumbasses use work time to go yada yada to the sky. They're not worth the breath to condemn them. I'm going to contact my rep and ask her to convene a public reading of Penthouse Letters and make sure she sends out the invites on government paper and holds said readings in a public building.
I guess when you're clueless about how to do your job, you gotta pray a lot. Well......get to praying you numbnuts! But you can bet most of them are gonna be praying for more lobbyist dinners, parties, and goodies during this session. Beats all I've ever seen!

I recommend you expand it to Matthew 6:1-8. Especially Matthew6:1.

Now we've gone to citing Scripture on this blog. Our southern ways are more inherent than I realized. Prayers will soon be offered, I imagine, by Norma and DBI. I do a lot of praying at Oaklawn but that comes under a different heading.

You can read the Bible, pray and be a Democrat, a moderate and a liberal . . . Cato.
Don't be a Bushevik and slaver like Pavlov's dog to apply a "peanut butter" classification. We have enough Busheviks and well-conditioned CCRRR's to fulfill that slot.
