New media at Capitol

Roby Brock says House Speaker Robbie Wills will roll out a website that will include YouTube coverage and power point presentations. He also will be Twittering.

I hope the speaker has bought a Flip camera, too. He could cart it to watering holes to film his colleagues doing vital after hours work with the lobby branch of government.

Will he post a video of the senate voting down legislation allowing television broadcast of the Senate (again)?

I guess the upper chamber doesn't want the world to know how they can come up with a 35-0 vote with only 4 Senators on the floor. I guess they're trying to avoid media attention like this:

I would also hope that with the Speaker's trend toward the 21st century legislators would be required to post an email address. Surely there's staff that can show folks where the inbox is. And along these lines I'm wondering if biographical information on the legislators "home page" at arkleg might be more extensive? They have cut out the occupation and religious affiliation blanks on newcomers. As it is now you'd have to assume posting a photo in addition to the district number and seniority is simply vanity.

I know this sounds silly but you'd think more of these politicians would want to be more accessible and transparent. Can't wait for the Youtubes coming out of the back room at Does.

Less thrilled I couldn't be.
