What happened to the CHANGE? Looks like the same old, same old going on in D.C.

What is more troubling is that Daschle was involved in indirect lobbying for the health care industry and now he is going to be head of HHS. I guess that isn't any worse than making a Raytheon lobbyist and under sec. at DOD.

A Treasury secretary and HHS secretary who didn't pay their taxes. An Attorney General who helps to sell pardons to fugitives. Are we corrupt? Yes we can!

(probably not, I heard on NPR today that the 400 richest Americans actually only pay 16% taxes what with low capitol gains taxes and all number of shelters for their wealth)

(and please, no comments about how "corrupt" the Obama admin is going to be. There is no way in hell they could ever out do Bush and Co. I would bet that if Bush had scrutinized his appointees the way Obama is there would have been some really ugly stuff that would have come up.)

Oh and I guess it is important to say I think Daschle should just bow out. It does not matter if he is a Dem or a Repug, this is just wrong and the President needs to just pick someone else.

If he had been a CCRRR, we would have neve received a back-taxes payment. And, the only way it would have come to light would be for a Federal Prosecuter to fight past five levels of CCRRR cover-up claiming Presidential Priviledge, destroyed hard drives and deleted electronic records. Then the CCRRR President would commute his sentence to ensure his silence.

You all got to quit searching for Jesus H. Christ. They've been looking for him for over 2000 years now and only nut jobs ever see him. A man cheating on his taxes is a lot different than lying a whole country into a war that kills hundreds of thousands. Cheney-Bush are gone and we know they're still lying and working evil.

But the main point is this......what we've been seeing since the election is some of that VETTING stuff that was totally lacking in the Bush years. We've found out about Gertner or whatever his name is and Daschle because someone was actually doing their damn job. Most most most unlike anything that happened in the 8 years that Cheney was President.

I don't care if they cut Tom Daschle's water off and send him home like Blago...there's 12 other good people to appoint behind him. I'm just proud as punch that investigating is going on and stuff is coming to light. And I hope there's more of it in the future. But we're never going to get saints....ain't no saints working at Wal-Mart or the Arkansas Times or around my house.

If every person Obama appoints has undocumented Panamanian babysitter trouble or forgot to include their free driver and car as income...think about it....this isn't the kinds of corruption that has brought America to its knees.

Oh how I wish Cheney and Bush had only be dishonest enough to cheat on their taxes....to not report their free drivers and cars. Come on people....we are smart enough to weigh one thing against the other and see a difference. Until the last eight years I was a big fan of that 'no-difference in the two political gangs' stuff. (I even voted for Nadar in 2000.) But NO MORE!! It may just be a matter of crumbs, cato, but even crumbs at the bottom can make all the difference. And, it may be nothing more than a reflection of just how horridly incompetent/arrogant and depraved the Bush gang was...but today there are miles between the Democrats/Rapublicans (and that's with lots of Democratic crooks). At least from my Obama-loving view!

On the other hand...a Dem or Republican who isn't smart/efficient enough to keep their business halfway straight shouldn't be trying to get us out of all these Monkeyboy-created ditches. The lone exception is proof that the errors clearly lay on another entity's shoulders (even our brilliant IRS makes one/two mistakes...ha). But I'll be tickled pink if greed is the worse problem we have with Obama's choices...and I'll be orgasmic if they're actually competent thieves!! Never thought I'd say this...but competency does make the political pillaging more palatable.

I'm with you, any*mouse, are middle-class/poor folks the only ones paying taxes anymore? Good gosh...my friends/family are squeezed for every last dime...regardless of how little they make/owe...EVERY LAST DIME PLUS. I'm still happy, though, that corporations and our politicians haven't brought back debtor prisons...guess the upkeep expenses are more expensive than slave labor. Guess that's how the slave indoctrination begins...just happy for a full belly...can't imagine safety/Civil Liberties and freedom from corporate raping/pillaging all at once.

How about we start sending the amount of taxes we think our government has earned? I agree with the sentiment that tax evasion isn't the same as hacking the Constitution to bits and tossing American lives away on daddy issues, but Daschle doesn't deserve it.
