Obama distilled
Brummett concludes the theme for the inaugural address was, "Be happy, do worry."
Reading about Obama's busy first-day actions on open government, closure of Guantanamo and secret CIA prisons, lobby influence, etc., I choose, for the moment, just to be happy.

Comments
I choose momentary happiness also, but David Gregory indicated this AM, there will be some provision for 'harsh interrogations' where 'necessary' and even some immunity from prosecution where 'necessary'. I DON"T like the sound of that.........but for now, happy, happy, happy.......

I just watched President Obama sign 4 executive orders
closing Gitmo within one year.
abolishing torture except as provided in the U.S. Army Field manual.
the handling of a certain terrorist.
cannot recall the fourth.

# 4 Created a task force that would have 30 days to recommend policies on handling terror suspects who are detained in the future. Specifically, the group would look at what do do with the 245 Guantanamo detainees.

I guess if there's no Guantanamo, they'll just have to shoot them. Or alternatively, they'll send them back to where their home countries will shoot them.

As usual, Severus, your reflexive CCRRR leap manages to avoid any semblance of rational thought or actual belief and/or trust in the U.S. Constitution, the U.S. Justice system or the government of the United States.
Which begs the question, if you are so certain that these institutions do not work and can not solve the problem as Bush/Cheney didn't then why aren't you out seeking a country more to your taste. There are still several rightwing dictatorships out there, where eternal imprisonment without trial, torture, summary execution on the whim of the Leader and harsh punishments are rife to make residents safe from terrorists . . . where you would have nothing to fear as long as you stay in the good favor of the leader and you will not be subject, as Rush and Anne pontificate, to the "tyranny of the majority."
