Republican speaks truth
The rare event is worth noting:
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell issued a blunt warning to Republicans Thursday: Their party must regain lost supporters plus blacks, Hispanics and voters on both coasts — or risk becoming a permanent minority party with a limited power base.
“We’re all concerned about the fact that the very wealthy and the very poor, the most and least educated, and a majority of minority voters, seem to have more or less stopped paying attention to us,” McConnell said in a speech at the Republican National Committee’s winter meeting. “And we should be concerned that, as a result of all this, the Republican Party seems to be slipping into a position of being more of a regional party than a national one.”

Wait, wait... weren't they talking about a "permanent Republican majority" just recently? I'm confused!

"And we should be concerned that, as a result of all this, the Republican Party seems to be slipping into a position of being more of a regional party than a national one."
And few old troglodytes have helped the Republican Party slip more than old Martian-faced Mitch McConnell. WE'RE not causing the Republican Party to slip from anything.....it's Republicans in lock-step with the 19th century that are doing it to themselves. Helen Keller could see that the Republican Party is a Party of self-interest only. Just the reeking, steaming, bullshit they've put out this week is enough to see whose the good guy and whose the bad.......SURVEY SAYS: REPUBLICANS!
The Republican Party made this mess Obama is currently trying to clean up as fast as he can. They could partly redeem themselves by remembering WHO won the election last November. They could quit their anti-worker, anti-minority, anti-middle class thinking and actions and that would do a whole hell of a lot to retard their slide into the crapper. But beware.....Mitch McConnell is one tick away from playing the Victim Card. He'll be singing that old 50s tune Charlie Brown....and saying Why is everybody always pickin on me?
Nothing happened by accident in the Bush years. Mitch McConnell and his fellow travelers held open the gates while mongol hordes of greedy Republicans stormed in and stole everything in sight. In the 10 days Barack Obama has been President, the Republicans have done nothing but spit on him and try to hold open the gates wider so their ilk can suck up bonuses during the government bailout. I gots eyes......I can see.
Let them continue on down this path and if America should survive despite them, they will indeed become the Whig Party and sink back into the ooze from which they came.

"...the very wealthy and the very poor, the most and least educated, and a majority of minority voters..."
That's a rather disingenuous way of describing their base. The very wealthy - wtf??? The least educated - they still believe GW was great??? Majority of minority - well when you can't even acknowledge the existence of slavery (peculiar institution - PGreenbert) - again WTF???
Is McConnell even sane anymore? He wants to appeal to more voters but he won't consider altering the policies that drove the voters away in the first place.
Conservatism is a cancer on society.

Yeah, it is hard to understand why women/non-white people aren't itching to jump on the new and improved Republican Bandwagon. They have women/minority friends, after all...and they have Palin, Powell and Gonzales.
In the meantime...Obama/Democrats OFFICIALLY made it easier for women to fight gender discrimination in the workplace and Hillary, during her confirmation hearings, addressed the gender atrocities that currently occurring in the Congo (where there are lots and lots of evil doers with bad weapons systematically raping every woman/girl in the country.) Priorities.

Mitch has it all wrong.
I personally tell every Republican I encounter that they should still be in power. If people could just understand that this meltdown is Bill Clinton's fault then it would cause them to wake up about what's going on. Republicans just need to stay the same as they are.
Mitch, Red river, Slinger, you guys don't need to change a thing. Just keep pluggin for them and doing what yall do best...make a lot of noise for America...and balanced budgets, small governments. After all, you gave us our two first black Secretaries of State.
I further think everyone of you needs to send Rush Limbaugh a love offering. He gives it his all and speaks truth to power for all Republicans. Go Rush go!
