School leader out

Jerry Peters, long-time senior regional director of Webster University's Little Rock operation, left the post around the first of the year. Roger Esser, who works for Webster in Fayetteville, will serve as interim director until a new leader is named. The university offers master's programs for working professionals at night classes. Esser said he couldn't provide details on the circumstances of Peters' departure.

Uh oh.

The name rings a bell. I'm sure this was the same guy, that moonlighted as a talk radio host in the mid 1990's.

There was a Jerry Peters that did a two hour mid-morning talk show opposite Pat Lynch over on the former 1010AM (KSYG-AM, the one time KLRA) station, then to switched KSYG 103.7 (now KABZ 103.7) when the AM station wen silent in 1995. Seems 103.7 in those days wanted to be a serious talk radio station but couldn't make a dent against kaRn. After Peters was shown the door, KSYG went through several show hosts, including Pat Lynch himself after kaRn ditched him for Dave Elswick.

The few times I listened to Peters, he had the same old topic going with the same old chronic callers checking in.

You've nailed it, MH - and I was one of those "chronic callers." I very much enjoyed Peters and thought he had a terrific show; it went downhill after he left...can't recall the well-known local host who replaced him. I've been called a lot, but first time I've been called a CC!!
;>)

I remember him from the same radio program. I have never been a radio talk show kinda guy but for some reason I remember enjoying tuning into him... Maybe he should try radio again!
