Why won't the Bushes let the Obamas move into Blair House before the inauguration? Brian Goldsmith poses the question. (Wonder if the Bushes are going to take anything with them, a la the Huckabees?)
Plus: Blago is stripped of his federal security clearance, leaving him "flying in the dark."

It bothers me that it's been announced so far in advance where the Obamas will be staying. And why the Hay-Adams? Why not the nearby Willard? I'd think it would be easier to secure.

Putting Blair house off limits is just a FK You to the Obamas. Remember, these are very very white people getting ready to turn over their house and their power to the black man who beat them. I feel sure there is plenty more outrage to come.
I suspect what Bush and Cheney will be taking when they leave off, is a good portion of the 700 billion handed out with no oversight and no strings attached. They don't want some old used furniture...they want cash baby cash!

DBI, the Bushs have been incredibly cooperative with the obamas. Even obama admitted that. This has nothing to do with race except in your race baiting mind. Are you still a member of the Jessie Jackson Fan Club?

Look at you strangelove still putting out the Clintons trashed the White House when they left LIE. There are a hell of a lot of people I dislike more than Jesse Jackson, he should be giving the mumbo-jumbo yak at the Inauguration, not Rev. Rick.

Well you said it, DBI, 'mumbo jumbo' is probably an apt term to use when describing Jessie. There was no lie about their theft. The AP reported it and there was an article even in the NY Times. They even removed the 'W's from the keyboards. Oh, well, you will never recognize what a jerk that the bubba is so no use in pursuing that.

Wrong again strangelove...click my name....the Clintons trashing the White House was a hoax played on the country by Fox News. If you'd turn Fox off you'd automatically be twice as smart.

No Truth in Clinton White House Vandal Scandal, GSA Reports
by David Goldstein
WASHINGTON -- The General Services Administration has found that the White House vandalism flap earlier this year was a flop.
The agency concluded that departing members of the Clinton administration had not trashed the place during the presidential transition, as unidentified aides to President Bush and other critics had insisted.
I think it was this calculated effort to plant a damaging story. There was a sort of fertile ground for believing anything bad.
Alex S. Jones
director, Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard University
Responding to a request from Rep. Bob Barr, a Georgia Republican, who asked for an investigation, the GSA found that nothing out of the ordinary had occurred.
"The condition of the real property was consistent with what we would expect to encounter when tenants vacate office space after an extended occupancy," according to a GSA statement.
No wholesale slashing of cords to computers, copiers and telephones, no evidence of lewd graffiti or pornographic images. GSA didn't bother to nail down reports of pranks, which were more puckish than destructive.
Among those pranks was the apparent removal, by aides to former President Bill Clinton, of the "w" key from some computer keyboards and the placing of official-looking signs on doors, saying things like "Office of Strategery," after a popular "Saturday Night Live" spoof on Bush.
But the vandal scandal, tales of torn up offices and items stolen from the presidential jet, was the hottest story in town during the early days of the Bush administration until White House furniture and last-minute pardons pushed it off the front page.
"I think it was this calculated effort to plant a damaging story," said Alex S. Jones, director of the Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard University. "There was a sort of fertile ground for believing anything bad."
Typical was Tony Snow, a syndicated columnist and former presidential speech writer for President Bush's father, who wrote that the White House "was a wreck." He also said that Air Force One, after taking Clinton and some aides to New York following the inauguration, "looked as if it had been stripped by a skilled band of thieves -- or perhaps wrecked by a trailer park twister."
He went on to list all manner of missing items, including silverware, porcelain dishes with the presidential seal and even candy.
"It makes one feel grateful that the seats and carpets are bolted down," Snow fumed.
Except none of it happened. An official at Andrews Air Force Base, which maintains the presidential jets, told The Kansas City Star at the height of the controversy that nothing was missing. Bush himself acknowledged the same a few days later.
And now GSA has made it official.
blue name.

Elwood and DBI, NOTHING will change a fool's mind. Not facts, not truth...I gave up a long time ago.
But keep on trying and heck, who knows what will happen?
Back to the ballgame. Into OT.

In your case strange, it is apparently easier to remember a sensational lie than the truth I'd say.

What about the apartment Obama used when he was a Senator? From what I heard Ms. Obama never spent the night there. Did she ever spend the night in Washington and why was his apartment off limits? Or was this apartment his man cave?

Typical attitudes of the Republicans - that anyone that is not like them will trash everything. It's classic projection. Look at how they have trashed the economy, our military, our reputation, and the infrastructure here in the Us, not to mention what they have done overseas in other countries, all in the name of profit and ideology.
Yep, projection bigger 'n crap (my polite way of saying the s word for feces).

There's a simple rule for dealing with stranglelove: Remember that he's a serial liar who argues in bad faith. This is just one more example of how he lies for cheap points.

Just as one mother to another, I dont see why Laura Bush couldnt invite Michelle Obama to move her family into the White House early so those girls could start school on time. I understand there are a few extry bedrooms and household help in there.
I agree with DBI, it's just a Bush FU to the Obamas. We know that George's mommy tried to teach him how to be a gracious loser, but all mothers have disappointments.

I missed where strange ever referred to the rumor that the Clinton's had vandalized the White House. He did refer to the Clinton's stealing.
According to the NY Times, February 6, 2001 the Clinton's had taken pieces valuing $28,000 that were made as gifts to the White House. The Clinton's said if they had taken anything meant to stay at the White House they would return it.
Kind of like saying, "oh I meant to pay for the piece of jewelry I slipped in my pocket". Really who cares, it probably really was not intentional and it likely happens all the time. Point being, many elected officials have "stolen" not just Republicans, perhaps it is better to throw stones when they cannot be thrown back at you.
