Beebe's right, gamblers wrong

What is it about Fort Smith and bingo? The gambling operators don't think they should be regulated. They don't think they should pay any amount to the state for the privilege of operating loosely overseen gambling halls. Now they want refunds of any taxes already paid. And the lady from Ft. Smith wants to enable them. Gov. Mike Beebe says he opposes deregulation and is open to a reduction, but not elimination of the tax. Would he veto the bad bills if they reach him anyway? Let's hope.

There's naive thinking nuts everywhere! When you enjoy the freedoms of the country you pay your fare share of taxes pure and simple.

While we are at it we've got to find a way to stifle tax avoidance Caribbean accounts and make them illegal with stiff penalties for the rich/corporations/banks that use them circumvent paying billions of their share of fare taxes.

It's UN-American and UN-American as far as I'm concerned to use technicalities to avoid paying ones fare taxes.

I must say I have no idea! I live in Fort Smith and I am not aware of any bingo operations here, at all. With two casinos one inch over the border in Oklahoma, the bingo ladies I once knew all upped the stakes and learned to love the slot machines. I have no idea who "Big Bingo" would be and why they are influencing Pennartz. Enlighten us if you know!
