Interesting thought ...
... but I'd guess impact would be small.
WASHINGTON — A group of liberal bloggers said it was teaming up with organized labor and MoveOn.org to form a political action committee that would seek to push the Democratic Party further to the left.
Soliciting donations from their readers, the bloggers said they were planning to recruit liberal candidates to challenge more centrist Democrats currently in Congress.
In this vein, with a local angle, it's worth taking a look at the National Journal's ranking of senators on liberal and conservative issues. It was sent along to me by a Republican campaigner without comment. In summary. Sen. Blanche Lincoln, often seared by the left here, isn't too liberal by Democratic Party standards, but not as conservative as the lefty flamethrowers would have you believe. About right for Arkansas, in other words.

Gotta make your hay while the sun shines.
Of course they will want to outlaw that on grounds that it is cruel to grass.

You guys are right. This is just plain stupid. You can say what you want about the Republicans - and we do around here - but they know how to stay on message and stay unified. They consistently take advantage of the Democrats diversity and inability to compromise with each other. I hope this goes nowhere.

All you have to do is look at the Republican party to see what happened when the ultra-right took over the party. Yes, it is bad PR and the talk show wingnuts will be making plenty of hay with this announcement.

Folks on our side of the spectrum can't organize ourselves out of a wet paper bag. Wingnuts, however, have won elections because they can and do. They rally around guns, God, (anti-) gays and fetuses.
But you have to give MoveOn.org some props...they send out tons of emails.

On Monday, February 16, Arkansas Times blogger Max Brantley, jeopardized
the privacy rights of every person with a concealed carry permit in
Arkansas by publishing a complete list of permit holders in the
Razorback State.
The link to the list was later removed after some protest but on
Tuesday, February 24, an anonymous website was created that allows the
visitor to search for any Right-to-Carry permit holder in the state.
Both of these sources have been removed at the time of this posting, but
this remains a threat for all gun owners in Arkansas.
In response to this abuse, State Representative Randy Stewart (D-23) has
introduced House Bill 1623, legislation that would prohibit outlets or
individuals from publishing records in the future that open gun owners
up to identity theft and persecution for their Second Amendment rights.
Currently, HB 1623 is in the House Judiciary Committee where a hearing
has yet to be scheduled.
Please contact the members of the House Judiciary Committee TODAY and
respectfully urge them to support this crucial piece of legislation.

Privacy rights? Then you agree that what a woman does with her body is her business, not anyone else's.

Question for all the naysayers above? What's a bad idea from the "Left"?
MoveOn and the "liberal bloggers involved who I know are interested in things like....
Universal or single payer health care.
EFCA (workers right to organize).
Not torturing, blowing up innocent people... or needlessly occupying them in pursuit of thier natural resources or routes needed to extract them to shipping routes.
Responsible energy policy for the planet beginning right here at home and dramatically reducing reliance on foreign oil..
Government not spying on every American citizen without a warrant.
Campaign finance reform... ending the insider DC beltway lobby system as we know it.
These are not extreme ideas... just damn difficult and long overdue.
It's time to say to a number of so called Democrats in name only... vote like a Dem, represent the people or face the music.
Blanche may be better than Pryor but her views on labor, war, taxation, big agro, and so on are incredibly flawed. She's on the wrong side of at least the bottom 90 percent of wage earners in this country? What's extreme about admitting that and challenging it?
Arkansans (southerners) are trained from day one to just go along because things will never change... that's bad enough, but it's downright wimpy to defend the rich overlords control of their politicians when some people correctly stand up to them. That part of the self loathing southern AR psyche I will never understand or except. Neither should you all. (Unless you are as old and beaten down as Durangogold (bless his heart).
