Is porn a family value?

I get e-mail. Here, a link to the summary of a study of on-line pornography purchasing patterns.

Here's the full study. Generally, Internet porn subscriptions don't vary much state by state. But Utah stands out, ranking at the top of all the various metrics. Arkansas doesn't make the top 10 per thousand residents in porn subscriptions in the service studied, but that may be because of a relatively low rate of access to broadband. In the list  for on-line purchases per thousand broadband users, Arkansas ranks No. 7.

The study concludes that porn purchasing is somewhat more prevalent in states that have adopted conservative positions on religion, gender roles and sexuality.

Says a Harvard Business School prof:

"Some of the people who are most outraged turn out to be consumers of the very things they claimed to be outraged by," Edelman says.

If you don't know how to do it for reals, go for the fantasy!!! Ain't it delicious??!!! Just like all the wingnut sex scandals: Don't try this at home!!! Too bad they're missing out on the best part of life, but it explains why most of them are humorless, uptight, sanctimonious pecksniffs!

Why do you always take 2 Baptists when you go fishing? Only one would drink all your beer.
*******************************
How can you tell the Baptists in the liquor store? They're the ones not making eye contact with anyone else.
*******************************
These people don't even attempt to practice their 'faith', they use it to discriminate against 'the other'.

Every cultural measure generally thought to be harmful (divorce, teen pregnancy, alcoholism, etc etc) is higher in conservative, bible thumper states and regions.

I find it curious that Utah, a state whose unofficially official religion is still associated with the idea of a man having multiple wives, has the highest porn consumption in the sample. Maybe they know something that all us everyday Joes who spent our youth fantasizing about being with more than one woman at a time haven't figured out....

I would tell the conservatives to "get a grip" ... but that may be the problem. /s

Reminds me of Diaper hypocrite baby Vitter... and The Hill has the story about an ex porn star taking him on in a Senate race against Republican conservative hypocrites.

Stormy never discusses her primary against Vitter without mentioning "diapers" and now former Republican congressman John Cooksey-- who lost a race against Mary Landrieu because of a reamrk he made on the stump about diapers-- may be jumping in against Vitter!

Jews don't recognize Christ as the Messiah.

Protestants don't recognize the Pope as the leader of the Christian Church.

Babtists don't recognize each other at the liquor store.

Or booger bar, I presume.

Seems that an equally valid hypothesis would be that the more conservative states have fewer public venues for titillation and so the residents of those states who would go to a bar or an "adult" store in another state go online instead. I saw nothing here that tied religious or conservative *individuals* to the behavior, except for the "church-going" correlation to a drop in usage on Sunday. But 0.1% seems pretty small to start with. What's more, when you look at Episcopalians and Presbyterians ordaining practicing homosexuals you can't exactly equate "church-going" with sexually conservative.

Hold on Arkansas change is a coming. Arkansas' ranking is held down by only access to broadband. But for all the pron deprived Obama will provide the way. The stimulus plan offers 7 billion for broadband expansion so I guess this gives new meaning for the "stimulus" plan.

Those who yell the most are obviously in the know. For instance who is it again that are most likely to get pregnant first those attending abstitenance classes and swearing off sex until marriage or the ones that receive sex education? Duh!

Internet porn must be a bit like the Arkansas Times.

Some folks actually pay for it.

It could be that liberal heathens that live in these places buy internet porn since they can't go to their adult stores in Utah. There's not much to conclude in a study like this since the status of the individual is unavailable.

If you asked how many people buy alcohol in counties other than where they live, you would find that people who live in dry counties do. Of course it would be confounded by people who travel to buy things in counties/states with lower taxes.

I must be missing something ServiceUs.

Are there no taxes on internet purchases in Utah?

.

wow.

You don't even have to make this shit up.
Conservative hypocrisy, it is like delicious candy to me.

Arkansas members of Congress, especially Rep. Mike Ross, continue to benefit from fund-raisers where corporate lobbyists are either the hosts or main guests, illustrating one of the many sides of the lawmaker-lobbyist relationship that the public knows little about. /more/

Theres a time to talk sweetly to members of the opposing party, and a time, when sweetness has failed, to slap them smartly across the face. President Obama has not yet learned this important lesson, to the detriment of his presidency and the nation. Gov. Mike Beebe, a more experienced lawmaker, has it down. /more/
