In Huck's green room

Fox News
A New York Times feature writer pays a visit to Mike Huckabee's Fox talk show and likes what he finds. (Who knew the former governor had cufflinks made of guitar picks embossed with crosses?)
With the debut of “Huckabee” last fall, the former governor has flown that migratory route from politics to punditry and is tearing up the small screen, beating out competitors, the Nielsen ratings say, from Anderson Cooper on occasion to the Westminster Kennel Club dog show. He has sworn to bring a much-needed sense of courtesy to the medieval battlefields of political TV. “Being a host implies civility,” he said the other day. “You don’t bring people on your show to yell at them. It’s like bringing them into your home.”
Without doubt, the green room is the homiest part of “Huckabee”: a comfortable space resembling an airport lounge, with its odd array of visitors and provisions of fatty foods. Lauren Green, the Fox News religion correspondent, listened patiently as the precocious Mr. Krohn bragged about teaching himself Arabic. The country-western singer Lee Greenwood, a regular on the show, recalled how he and his wife took scuba lessons from some members of the Navy Seals while on their honeymoon years ago.
Article comes with panoramic shot of Huck's empty "green room," the waiting room for show guests.

Comments
Fox News posted an article titled: Huckabee: The Biggest Big-Government Conservative.
It mentioned that the CATO Institute gave him an "F" in fiscal policy. Even well-known liberals like Ted Kulongoski of Oregon, Rod Blagojevich of Illinois, and Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania received higher scores. During his two-term tenure, spending increased by more than 65 percent -- at three times the rate of inflation.
The number of government workers increased by 20 percent, and the state's debt services increased by nearly $1 billion. Huckabee financed his spending binge with higher taxes. Under his leadership, the average Arkansan's tax burden increased 47 percent, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, including increases in the state's gas, sales, income, and cigarette taxes. He raised taxes on everything from groceries to nursing home beds.
But Huckabee doesn't just embrace big government in the form of big taxes. He truly appears to believe that if something is a good idea it should be a federal government program.

After all that, FOX proves it is fair and balanced by hiring Huck. Huck has the ability to say the right things; it's the doing part where he falters.

"Being a host implies civility," says Huck. Unless you disagree with his fundamentalist religion. Then you're not an equal American.
Here at clicky is the latest ad from NOM, who brought you the infamous "Gathering Storm."
This one features Carrie Prejean, Miss California in the Miss USA Pageant -- the religious right's new darling. Forget that her breasts are a lie; her implants were paid for by the pageant, according to several sources. Forget that she lied about her heterosexual sister being a "gay activist": she isn't. Forget that she's continued to lie about why she lost the pageant -- according to other judges and officials. Forget that she lied that pageant officials tried to get her to deny her "faith." They didn't.
Miss Prejean may or may not be a "Dumb bitch," as Perez Hilton called her.
But one thing's clear: she's a liar. False witness and stuff.

I'll not defend or persecute Miss CA here. But it seems to me that the pageant officials/tv people/someone intentionally put that question in to get this attention. No matter which girl gets the question and no matter the answer, the pageant itself gets notoriety they would never have gotten otherwise.
It was either a masterstroke of PR or a cynical abuse of fairness. Or both.

Hmm...I'd say the Huckster's green room was kinda dumpy, if you asked me.

What a nice bon vogage Max. Yet another thread on Huckabee. Someone suggested you're obsessed.
Maybe ask your better half about that.
It's a fluff article. Like Huckabee, nothing of substance. Yes, even the NYT gets by with some Gannet-style coverage.
