Speaking of winds.
I have about 6,000 dollars worth of damage to my lake banks from high winds while the lake, Lake Conway, was so high it was over the bulkhead shored up bank.
Can a person sue the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission?
Wow, what a service today at Quapaw Quarter Methodist as Rev. Betsy Singleton
and Vic Snyder baptized their triplets. I am still charged up. The Holy Spirit was
flowing, for sure.
Man, the temp in my part of Littlerockopolis has dropped 20 degrees in the last couple hours. I've just come in from covering the strawberries I'm growing on my south deck. They're in full bloom with some baby berries having already formed. Dang that Barack Obama! This late freeze advisory is all his fault.
Just "four" winds? I'm getting north, south, east, west plus up the hill and and down the hill!
Winds are the one thing I worry the most about for my rentals. Last year after the tornadoes I ended up paying almost $10k to various tree trimming and cleanup companies. If the trees fall but do not damage the house, insurance will not cover the cleanup.
So for tonight, time to hunker downstairs with my wife and rent a movie!
One more wind... apparently my younger son fed some spaghetti and marinara sauce to my 15 year old cat a couple of hours ago... yep, a new "wind" is blowing...
Insurance will cover if a tree falls across a fence, a driveway, or the street. At least, that's what my insurance company will pay for. Last year's tornado caused 2 of my trees in the front to block the street, and one in the back fell on my fence, and insurance paid for all of it.
Cammack, in my case it was 60+ year old trees in the yards themselves... not across drives or fences. And the size of the trees was far beyond the capability of my chainsaw to handle. I hate to say that I was wishing the trees HAD hit something (without hurting anybody of course.)
T. Boone Pickens, oil man, billionaire, philanthropist, financier and outspoken
advocate for energy independence, will hold a "town hall" meeting in the Donald W. Reynolds Center for Enterprise Development Auditorium
of the University of Arkansas, from 10:45
to 11:45 a.m. Monday, April 6.
Pickens, who has become widely known for his "white board" presentations
on the national energy crisis, will answer questions from the audience during
the session. Denise Bode, president of the American Wind Energy Association and a partner in Pickens' energy campaign, will also attend
the presentation.
The event is sponsored by
the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas and J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. in
conjunction with the Supply Chain Management Research Center and the Applied Sustainability Center at Walton College.
This town hall meeting
is free and open to the public. Overflow seating will be available in rooms 103
and 111 of the Reynolds Center and the First
Security Auditorium of Willard Walker Hall. A rebroadcast of the event will
also be available on the web:

We are delighted to have former Senator David Pryor as our speaker at this years' banquet.
David Pryor has served Arkansas as a state legislator, U.S. Congressman, Governor, and U.S. Senator in a career
spanning four decades. He was recently appointed to serve on the Board of
Trustees for the University of Arkansas and was
appointed by President Bush in 2006 to the board of the Corporation for Public
Broadcasting. His autobiography "A Pryor Commitment" was published in 2008.
We are expecting a huge turnout
so everyone must pay or reserve in advance to be assured of a seat at the
banquet. Please make your check to "ACLU of Arkansas" and send it to our

Hey been watching some of this Card Check Off (EFCA) rhetoric going on across Fox News. Wal-Mart stocks are going to be auto junk stock if this passes.BS,
Any employer who treats there employees fair has nothing to worry about. For instances the Transplant Auto Makers 90% are not union because they give them the same as the union workers make.
And another thing I was noticeing the Right Wing Republican Party is always screaming about the tax raises hurting small business, like they are the champions of small business. Well in that case Wally World has something to worry about, because Wal-Mart has destoryed more small businesses then any thing. They move into these small towns and there goes All of these Mom and Pops stores thats small business at the heart right. Well Wally these Repubs are going to be after you like white on rice. YEAH RIGHT!!!!!!!!!
Wallyworld may be doing it again in Conway. We already have two supercenters and now the rumor in the LCD Sunday morning is building one one of their smaller markets on Prince Street west of Conway High School West. That section of two lane road is already overly congested with two many businesses and driveways opening into a major road with no turn lanes or suicide lane and now another way to attack small business There is already a supercenter on the west side of town so the only reason for one there is to attack the Kroger about a mile away. How much money is enough for them? They are a monopoly in most areas where they operate.
After the bank bail-out because they were too big to fail, we need a law that limits the size of any operating company in terms of business and that a parent company can operate a numbert of operating companies but no operating company can be bigger than $250 million (or some such number) in assets, business, or through-put so an operating unit can be allowed top fail and capitalism work as it should.
Conway..."Shangri-La" a mystical, harmonious swamp, of Wal-Marts, Pseudo Watering Holes, College Coeds, End of the World, Code Enforcement Officers and Smelly Sewer Ponds. OH Yeah & Toad Suck!

Arkansas members of Congress, especially Rep. Mike Ross, continue to benefit from fund-raisers where corporate lobbyists are either the hosts or main guests, illustrating one of the many sides of the lawmaker-lobbyist relationship that the public knows little about.

Theres a time to talk sweetly to members of the opposing party, and a time, when sweetness has failed, to slap them smartly across the face. President Obama has not yet learned this important lesson, to the detriment of his presidency and the nation. Gov. Mike Beebe, a more experienced lawmaker, has it down.
