Looking out for kids
The state used a child awareness day yesterday to tout new laws said to provide more "transparency" in cases of child abuse and to prevent children at risk from falling through holes in the state safety net.
Fine.
I'd just like to add that the Beebe administration continues to stonewall requests for information about the state's efforts, or lack of, in the death of four children last year and the state's failure to act on behalf of a child nearly beaten to death, despite a report to the state agency and the child's presence in a home in which a state DHS worker lived. What did the state know? When did it know it? Did workers do all that was expected of them? If they did not, were there consequences? Simple and fair questions which the Beebe administration apparently has no intention of ever answering, laws or no laws.

You might wish to review a copy of Dr. Peter Breggin's work, "The Heart of Being Helpful: Empathy and the Creatioin of a Healing Presence". Though it will address the personal nature and somewhat fascinating insight, the organizations, both public and private, perhaps are sick and in need of a leadership and management style that is a little more cognizant of the gift of life. A diamond while quite transparent is still flawed.

Max ...on the near beating death thing..wouldn't a Sheriff of local police be required to investigate?
Or is it the state troopers who investigated an assault involving DHS?
