Anybody know where to donate/recycle an old laptop? It still works (Toshiba Tecra 550CDT), but it has Windows 95 and not much memory, etc. I suppose someone could convert it for Linux use.
I think the idea of an IPOD for the Queen was a great idea. The only thing better would have been some DVDs or American movies. However, there is always a chance that the Queen might have those DVDs. Isn't it great that we have such a sophisticated Chief.
I also love Obama's plan to collect delinquent income taxes. All he has to do is keep nominating people to cabinet positions and before you know it we will have collected everything that the tax cheats owe.
Our new shitzu is on live cam. His name is Irishman. Just mention a usual trick for him to do
in the slot. He reads pretty well but likely not as well as the one above.
Just got back from our been-there-done-that Vegas trip. To the uninitiated (me) things appear recession proof. Watching the local news, you get a totally different story. MGM Grand who owns most of the strip is up a creek. Its absurdly huge and ill timed City Center construction project that blocks pedestrian traffic on the strip is in trouble. The Dubai investors aren't getting enough for their oil to keep the money flowing in. The county is down $100 million in property tax collections because of lowering values and a lack of new construction to make up for it.
The instant I got ahead of the slots I cashed out and took in an extra show.
I had a relative who was there the day before the big fire in the 70's.
Last time I was there.. was grand reopening on new years eve w/Streisand on the bill that evening. We wandered in on a whim... won 4k in about 20 minutes and made like a banana and split.
Vegas is great fun for about 48 hours... if you sleep most of the daylight hours.
Sorry so late with this. WE NEED YOUR HELP ARK BLOGGERS:
"In the next 48 hours, both the House and Senate are set to take a crucial vote on President Obama's budget. It's a boldly progressive plan that closes tax loopholes for oil companies and banks while cutting taxes for 95% of working Americans.
In Arkansas, that means 960,000 families will get tax cuts if the budget passes.1 (I know it's April Fools' Day, but that number's no joke-960,000 families!)
And closing those loopholes will save Arkansas taxpayers $170 million that would otherwise go into the oil companies' pockets-money that can be used on investments in health care and energy.
Republicans will probably oppose the budget en masse, so we need every last Democrat-like Sens. Pryor and Lincoln-to stand tall and make sure it passes. Even Democrats who've pledged support need to hear that this is a top priority-and that voters want them to oppose any and all efforts to water it down.
(Put aside your individual opinions of Sens Lincoln and Pryor and call, and respectfully urge them to support the Budget.)
Will someone look into Fogleman's conduct during the prosecution of the West Memphis Three? Does anyone really consider him a viable choice for our Supreme Court?
That I-pod is already in the drawer the queen is old school and old she has no need for modern day electronics I think he should have given her a more dignified and traditional gift.
Where is Al Gore? Coldest winter in 50 years earth's core temp has dropped 5 degrees and they find a chunk of ice the size of California in the polar ice caps that they mysteriously have been over looking for the last 10 years does he only come out in the summer?
If you had been paying attention, you would have known that the Queen already has an "old school" Ipod of her own, so this was basically an upgrade. Plus, the Obamas did give her a more traditional gift of a rare book of songs signed by Richard Rodgers. Were you also aware that the Queen has a Wii?
I would think at her age an I-pod wouldn't be the best thing for what hearing she may have left. Hadn't heard about the book that sounds more appropriate
I think Obama's chintzy gifts are a message that the old days of giving king's treasures to foreign politicians is over. You and I paid for that damn iPod and I'm personally grateful Obama didn't give the Queen an antique silver service once drooled on by John Adams and costing the taxpayers 50 thousand dollars. The Queen is the second richest woman on earth behind J.K. Rowling. Given her another gift is like giving Bill Cosby a Pudding Pop. Cheap is in!
LT Hammer you have to be kidding the DNC pays his way except for when Tony Rezco who got him his house steps in. Did you see his tax returns community organizers don't make much
The Queen ASKED for the video Ipod. Geez, give a girl what she wants and people complain about it. Not only that, but it came pre-loaded with a video of her last visit to the US to personalize it.
Why on earth do people think that rich people don't want things they can use daily? What use does she have for some expensive doodad that sits on the shelf?

I have a question. Do you think that the people with issues can find a common ground with people who have problems?

Nope, you don't Irish.
Just the normal disdain for a post that could be copied from any of the Bushevik pundits' current veiled venomous attempts at cute CCRRR humor.

Joke of the Day...Shihtzu name Irishman
Mom and Dad were trying to console Susie, whose dog, Skipper, had recently died.
"You know," Mom said, "it's not so bad. Skipper's probably up in Heaven right now, having a grand old time with God."
Susie stopped crying and asked, "What would God want with a dead dog?"
