Cauley gives up law license

Little Rock lawyer Gene Cauley has filed papers with the Arkansas Supreme Court that say he's surrendering his law license and has agreed to a plea deal with a federal prosecutor over allegations that he'd mishandled $9.3 million won for sharehholders in a securities  lawsuit.

Here's the filing. He acknowledges committing a criminal act. He says he's being treated for depression, but says he accepts full responsibility for his actions.

It's the crash and burn of a high-profile career in which Cauley managed to build a long list of detractors in the legal community.

Under a voluntary surrender, Cauley can petition for readmission to the bar only after a five-year wait. The filing does not detail terms of what Cauley describes as a two-count felony plea deal on the fraud.

No word at this moment if this development means an end to Cauley's suit against former partners. In his filing with the Supreme Court, Cauley takes full responsibility for improper acts.

Arkansas Business updates with more details on the plea and the underlying charge.

So, other than the sums involved, what is the difference between Cauley's actions and Doyle Webb's?

Doyle Webb is a Republican. They stand with god so no harm can come to them.

You get caught hustling another man in a public restroom you just say baloney and file a suit.
You get caught on THE pimp's list in Washington D.C. and you stand up with your wife and say
something silly which comes far from being an admission or an apology.

You get caught getting $150,000 per year from your former corporation of which you were an officer while negotiating war contracts with that corporation you say "So what?"

See get with god, because god takes care of his own. God lets them steal, whore, queer, and double deal with impunity.
.

Every now and then (too infrequently) a rattlesnake misses the victim and bites himself. The hot burning question, given Cauley's recent deeds and admission, is if he has committed fraudulent acts previous to this case with other settlements. If I had, I would be depressed, knowing I have been caught in the present case and hoping that the feds did not look back any further in the past.

This must explain why Cheney & Bush & Rummy & their lawyers have yet to be prosecuted. How can I get my old Republican Party member card back?

I don't know this Cauley fellow, but I do know Doyle Webb. If Cauley is anywhere in the same slimey ballpark with DW, then we're all in a heap of trouble.
