It's happy hour somewhere

The rest of you are up.

This might be ideal for "Talk Like A Pirate Day", but I never know when that falls. Saratoga track announcer Tom Durkin called this race last year. Horse names are funny, anyway, but this one's great.

Great horse Hugh! I liked the one in the 60s named DamifIno. The announcer has some fun with it.
"Who won?
"DamifIno
"Well you called it."

John Pilger is raising eyebrows-

"Britain: the depth of corruption"
Snip-
"The answer lies in a deeper corruption, which tales of tax evasion and phantom mortgages touch upon but also conceal. Since Margaret Thatcher, British parliamentary democracy has been progressively destroyed as the two main parties have converged into a single-ideology business state, each with almost identical social, economic and foreign policies. This "project" was completed by Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, inspired by the political monoculture of the United States. That so many Labour and Tory politicians are now revealed as personally crooked is no more than a metaphor for the anti-democratic system they have forged together."

clicky

"So, should it be any surprise to discover that the Democratically controlled Congress of America is working on passing a new regulation that would give the American Treasury department the power to set "fair" maximum salaries, evaluate performance and control how private companies give out pay raises and bonuses? Senator Barney Franks, a social pervert basking in his homosexuality (of course, amongst the modern, enlightened American societal norm, as well as that of the general West, homosexuality is not only not a looked down upon life choice, but is often praised as a virtue) and his Marxist enlightenment, has led this effort. He stresses that this only affects companies that receive government monies, but it is retroactive and taken to a logical extreme, this would include any company or industry that has ever received a tax break or incentive."

Pravada May 29,2009

Saywhat,

Did you mean "Pravda'' here? I'm not sure what Pravada is.

If you're referring to the Russian news outlet, you would appear to have a lot in common with their views. Maybe you should go there.

It's a wingnut fiction Sister. Pravda, the real paper, never mentioned this. sayshit is copy/pasting from wingnut sites without giving credit.

Just google Pravda, Barney Frank..promise you dozens of hits that virtually say the same thing.

Sister,

I gave Pravda's view to show how other parts of the world view the U.S. But your comment is real close to what was said during the 60's to those who opposed the war. "Love it or Leave it."

eLwood,

http://english.pravda.ru/opinion/columnists/107459-0/

Do you read Pravda since you know what they print?

saywhat would rather have a country full of men like Dugger, and one I just heard report on....
29 year old man has 21 kids by 11 women and makes min. wage..............

Maybe a little more gay sex wouldn't hurt, no kids for tax payers to support.

Listen folks. This clicky is not for the squeamish. If you are in the least timid, faint of heart, do not do the "clicky." But if you want to see what these bastards and neo-nazis are doing to this great country of ours then enter the depths of sinisterism by clicking on cato.

"So, should it be any surprise to discover that the Republican controlled Congress of America is working on passing a new regulation that would give American Bankers the power to set "exhorbant" salaries with no performance evaluation and provide unlimited pay raises and bonuses? Senator Larry Craig, a bathroom pervert basking in his widestance (of course, amongst the modern, enlightened American societal norm, as well as that of the general West, homosexuality is not only not a looked down upon as a life choice, but is often praised as a virtue) he of course pled guilty, then changed his mind, hmmm to bad. His repug enlightenment, has led this effort. He stresses that this only affects companies that receive government monies, but it is retroactive and taken to a logical extreme, this would include any company or industry that has ever received a tax break or incentive." Senator Craig ended his statement with this comment. Unfettered capitalism and tax breaks for big bidness will cure our economic illes. Oh, I'll be flying through DFW on 15 June, AA Flt 5555.

Pravada May 29,2009

Thanks for sourcing your stuff saywhat. You realize they're getting down on what Bushco did more than what Obama is forced to do. Of course the Rooskies just let their society fail and unless you had a good job at Pravda or something similar you likely did without food, heat during the tough times. So let them rail on.. such miserable failures they have been.

"The rest of you are up," indeed, Max.

Saw "Up" for the second time (the first since returning from Cannes) in 3-D at the Chenal 9 with an audience full of kids -- not one of whom got up to go to the bathroom or squirmed or talked. They were as spellbound as the adults.

Yes, the 3-D DOES matter, if you can see it that way, and it's flawless.

Of course the 3-D is amazing in the action and flight sequences, but also richly effective (and subtle) in closeups and interiors.

This animated world is completely real and engrossing, emotionally, from laughs to love to tears to jolts to suspense and scares.

3-D here is no gimmick: it's another story element that heightens an already near perfect tale.

Pixar keeps raising the bar. "Finding Nemo" was wonderful. But "Up" is on a par with history-making breakthrough animated films like "Snow White" and "Bambi."

Incredible!

Saywhat,

Oh good, clarification. It's Pravda not 'Pravada.' It's funny how the wingnuts can never spell.

And yes, saywhat, I would prefer your kind to exit the country immediately. I would bet that as a gay woman who is in a committed relationship, I offer much more than you. I bet I'm much more educated, make more money and pay far more taxes than you. My Would-Be-Wife trumps me in two of the three categories.

Isn't that your litmus test as a true capitalist? If so, leave now.

I am having my own version of Happy Hour on my deck; some cabernet, smoky cheddar cheese, and red grapes. I may start on the celery and baby carrots next because I am trying to clean out the fridge before I leave tomorrow. I am as ready as I can be, and if I have forgotten anything....I can just do without or buy it. I hook up my little teardrop camper in the morning and will drive until I decide to quit. I am thinking that I will make it to somewhere around St. Joseph, MO because pulling even a small camper will slow me down, and the dogs will want to have breaks, as will I.

I arrive at Lake Vermillion Rec area near Canistota, SD on Sunday and will stay there a few days before heading to Custer State Park. I have to be in Rapid City by Wednesday for sure, because my sister is flying in from Lexington, KY and I am picking her up at the airport. She will be staying in a hotel for the next 5 days because her bad back and other medical issues would not make camping fun for her. We plan on driving, touring, eating, and having lots of fun in the next 5 days. I have arranged some doggie day care for the tours that don't allow dogs.

I will try to stay in touch, but will have limited internet because I don't do internet on my very basic cell phone. I plan on taking lots of pictures and hopefully can post a link to some of them later.

Any more reports on Frenchie?

Everybody try to play nice.

I found saywhat's original source with identical wording and misspelling of "Pravda" as "Pravada." It's "Bungalow Bill's Conservative Wisdom Blogspot!" Decorated with a photoshopped copy of the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Album cover with the Beatles and famous personages replaced with Ronald "Rayguns," Rush Limbaugh, Sara Palin, Bobby Jindall and other CCRRR luminaries like Ted Nugent and surprisingly Barry Goldwater.

CLIK.

Great find, Doc.

Don't you know Barry Goldwater would turn over in his grave if he knew he was linked to this crap.

Goldwater was nothing like these rubes.

P.S.
1) Saywhat, I went to the url (CLIK) posted in your inerudite rejoiner to Big "L" exposing the source for your original libel post (libel to Barney Frank and to Pravda or as your prefer "Pravada"). Where was your source for the last six paragraphs? Could it be that Seabea Esse added them on the American Party (taxday teaparty teabagger's site)?

http://www.theamericanparty.org/index.php/the-news

Just in case anyone is interested to see what may be the original. Personally at least the faux Peter Max artwork on Bungalow Bill's was worth viewing.

2) Do you realize how badly your attacks are going when you quote an opinion editorial from what was the main communist propaganda voice throughout the lifetime of the U.S.S.R? That your are using an opinion editorial of a news outlook longing for the good old days of the Soviet Union to call Barney Frank a homosexual Marxist?

3) Did you really read and comprehend the penultimate paragraph? Here it is removed so you can, ". . . The Russian owners of American companies and industries should look thoughtfully at this and the option of closing their facilities down and fleeing the land of the Red as fast as possible. In other words, divest while there is still value left. . . ."

"Russian owners of American companies and industries?"

4) saywhat, Shirley you can do better than that.

Happy trails Cammack, sounds like a wonderful adventure with sister and doggies....
stay between the ditches and return to us safe and sound with lots of pix and stories of
strange things.

Black skies here...Frenchie (Armand) not feeling well at all, tries to hide it.....I'm thinking
of everything I can do....can't call his brothers or sisters in Canada, they don't speak
english and are at their summer chalets anyway.....he is a Deacon at FBC so might have to
call on them to help me convince him to go find out what is going on...............
I'm at wits end........he is the one who always took care of EVERYONE.

I told him today that I was sorry for every hurtful, hateful, act that I had ever slung his way,,,
he did not deserve any of it...........such a gentle, loving man I have never known.

Oh, Jazzy, PLEASE get Frenchie to the hospital. I don't know how old he is or if this is just a minor illness, but if you are this worried, PLEASE get medical help.
Hang in there, and know that your friends here hope for the best.
Kiz

Jazzy:

If you can't get him there, then call someone (the deacon) who can. If worse comes to worse, call 911 and get the paramedics and an ambulance there. You sound like you are more than concerned, so something must really be going on with him.

Damn stubborn men!

Jazzy,

We all hope you get Frenchie some needed medical help. I almost wish it more for your sake because you're going to drive yourself crazy with worry. By the way, I love the name Armand. It reminds me of Armand Assante...a sexy man even an L can appreciate.

Doc, you've castrated saywhat. There's no other term for it. I'll be surprised if he shows up again on this thread.

Seems to me that the only time guys like saywhat, libertus, severus or hard head show up, it's usually to spout something negative about gay people. I don't know, but I think the 4 may be the same person.

I think this person is likely a white man, unemployed, unmarried and lives with his parents. I think he finds some kind of solace in right-wing websites, which feed on his hate and insecurity (because, after all, the left is after the white man - hey, Bill O'Reilly said it).

I don't know if I should curse this person or feel sorry for him.

The women on this blog will likely tell me to opt for the latter, but I'm taking the former. These people personify why gay people are vilified and victimized to this day. I don't think I should abide them in any way.

Sorry for the rant...WBW is out of town once again and isn't around to rein me in.

Sister:

I bet ol' DBI would be more than happy to rein you in. :)

Sorry...just couldn't resist.

Feel sorry and walk away Sis. It's never worth the time or toil to get down in the trenches with these people. The high road always wins.

Cammack,

I thought of you last night...WBW and I were at Casa Manana on the deck.

Goof, but their way is winning now. How can I not?

DBI will like us a lot when he finally meets us. I'm the preppy lipstick variety while WBW is the athletic, girl-next-door type...she's a better-looking Brandy Chastain (you remember, the soccer player who tore her jersey off?) She looks more like a California surfer girl.

Time to check out for Jay Leno's LAST NIGHT to do the Tonight Show. Thurs' night was fab. Whole evening with Billy Crystal...but has lost his SNL edge.

Jazzy, call your pastor or another deacon. It sounds like it's time to call in the cavalry. They would want you to let them help you....

You just answered your question Sis. When you can walk away from the match, you are the winner.

Cammack...Be careful and have a lovely time....sounds like you have mapped out everything, send us some pictures, I would love to see your dogs!!

Jazzy, Call 911.....Frenchie is making me sick...with worry for you and him too!

Put this on an earlier thread...reposting here:

Just heard the one-trick anti-immigration pony, former Rep. Tom Tancredo (R, CO) has stated that an organization to which Sotomayor belongs/supports (National Council of La Raza - link at my blue name) is "the Latino KKK." MY response was to donate $20 to La Raza in his name. My comments to them:

I frankly had not heard of La Raza until Trancredo opened his sick, un-American mouth. Here's hoping MANY Americans respond in this manner to his racist, boorish comments!!!

The donation was in "honor" of Tom Tancredo, with acknowledgment sent to TomTancredo@Morons.com

Ten facts about Mt. Rushmore. Do the clicky

I'm with you Sister - GOOD stuff there!!! G'night now...
|

St. Joe and Rapid City were favorite pheasant hunting spots for my Grandaddy. Have fun on the trip Cammack and send us lots of pictures.

anybody know why the Little Rock streetcars aren't running? a sign in the River Market says they won't run until further notice.

Cato:

Thanks for the link on Mount Rushmore. Very interesting stuff.

When I meet up with my sister, I will be able to upload some pictures. I think she will have her computer, and is staying in a hotel with internet. I am not even taking a laptop with me on this trip. I will have an IPAQ handheld computer that will allow me to get on some free wifi from time to time, but no way to upload from it. I don't have internet on my cell phone, so that is out, too.

I am having my morning coffee before heading out on my adventure.

Sister: So you are a lipstick femme and WBW is a sporty femme? How long have y'all lived in Arkansas?
It has been perfect weather for the Casa Manana deck!

I will have to check in for Frenchie reports.

Sister,

Why don't you condemn me to hell because I added an extra a in Pravda. I expect you have never made a typing mistake. As for your private life I could care less. Nor would I ever say that you should leave the country. The problem I have with you is you missed the whole point of the passage I quoted. It was not about Barney Frank but about what is happening in Washington. Frank was just a sidebar. You didn't say anything about the quote that Larry Craig was a bathroom pervert but you cannot handle what was said about Frank. Is it because one is a Republican and the other is a Democrat?
You are a prime example of the people who cry about not being treated on the same level of other people but if someone has a different view than you then they have no right to that view. The funny thing about the Pravda report was I agree with most of it except there was no need to comment on Frank the way it did. It added nothing.

saywhat, "typing mistake?" You were outed by docholliday on this blog at 7:27 p.m. yesterday. (See above.)
You helped yourself to a bit of the "Pravada" material -- wherever it originally came from and I'm not sure that it sounds like Pravda, except perhaps odd bits and pieces taken out of context -- and then went off on your own tangent. Think that might be why folks missed the entire point of your comments?

Jazzy, i called it a night very early last night but everyone is right. call 911 and let them reason with frenchie. It's unanimous.

I can settle this here Pravda/Pravada debate right now. Everybody knows that particular designer is spelled PRADA. Youre welcome. ;)

Doigotta, you mean there was a point to "saywhat's" comments? Where?

it is such a beautiful day today, the Wonder Dog and I just now got back from our first walk. His bride is spending the weekend with her People. she didnt particularly want to go, and it will take me a couple of days to settle her down when she gets back -- she loves her Wonder Dog so much and gets all her security from him. Hell, I know how she feels.

Jazzy, you tell poor Frenchie that if he doesnt straighten up and fly right and get some medical care, each and every female on this blog is going to descend upon your lovely lakeside home and STAY THERE BITCHING AT HIM until he goes to the ER. 30 seconds of THAT ought to do it. I can be there in 90 minutes. It's such a gorgeous day, I dont think any of the other ladies here would mind spending a Saturday that way.

I'll call ahead and order Rocky's Corner to deliver to your house if you get Max to email me your address -- after all, it's an emergency. My boys and I always used to do that, for real, when we went to Buena Vista to spend a week. Rocky's Corner salads.........spaghetti and meatballs......and of course pizza.

frenchie, please. Go to the hospital. Do it for Jazzy, before you are invaded. Surely you know that "a feeling of impending doom" can be one of the early signals of heart attacks, right? Or it could just be Fear of AR Times Female Bloggers. a prostate or urinary tract infection can make a person feel like hell, too, but is easy to treat.

Dont forget to wear Prada, y'all. I get mine from old Ed down at the thrift shop.

Frenchie, all of us here on the blog adore Jazzy, and we know how much she loves you. It would kill us to watch her suffer the pain of losing you at such an early age, needlessly. So kindly get off your arse and go to the ER, ok? Men! It's a constant source of wonderment to me how so many of them graduate medical school, I guess they figure if they ARE doctors, they wont get sick -- hell, everybody knows that.

Frenchie, please. Do the right thing for Jazzy, before your home is invaded. I have no choice but to bring the Wonder Dog.

Sistertoldja,

It was not my intent to castrate Saywhat, but merely to get her/him to quote and post sources of factual information not blog diatribes. It ended up in being a lesson on how easy the internet and websearch can discover the source of unattributed material, and/or plagiarizing and perhaps adding materials to a newspaper editorial.

When CCRRR posters use history, logic, factual posts, and don't indulge in juvenile Elephant Echoing pundit propanda or obstensibly use ex-Communist propaganda oped pieces to call a U.S. Representative a Marxist, it is a pleasure to enter into discussion and argument. But that is too difficult and dangerous for trolls; and an idea is a very dangerous thing for them to encounter and, heaven forbid, comprehend.
