Now it's Baker

Brummett figures recent developments make Sen. Gilbert Baker the front-runner for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. Not that he's running. Yet.

Doug Thompson observes, however, that Baker could have a Benton County problem. (Remember, he denied former senator and now county judge Dave Bisbee the Senate leadership post by joining The Brotherhood coalition.)

A note for Doug: I do think Baker has at least a few questions to answer re UCA. His family and campaign enjoyed some perks courtesy of the college's former president. All the while that situation was imploding, Baker was studiously avoiding taking any sort of leadership position in calling for a cleanup. He preferred to talk about UCA AFTER the campaign, he said. Not very forceful. And reflective of his insider status there then.

I held my nose and voted for Joe White over Gilbert for state Senate. I WILL NOT be able to exercise the same restraint should Gilbert run for US Senate against Blank. It's like American Idol. The election will be rigged, it won't matter anyway since they both represent the same interest and I'll be glad to say the winner is from right cheer in the Cwizzle.

If one corporate bandit is already in the Senate, then whats the harm in letting a new, equally corrupt bandit take her place?

I'll cut off my nose. My face will be alright.
