Judge Simes gets reprieve

The Arkansas Supreme Court today remanded the state Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission's recommendation that Circuit Judge L. T. Simes be removed from the bench. He was found in violation of ethics rules, including by practicing law while on the bench. The court said the commission had not filed a complete record of the cas and ordered that it be rebriefed. Justice Paul Danielson dissented. He said he believed the complete record had been filed. Omissions cited include an absence in table of contents of references to some elements of the case.
