"A choked-up South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford issued a raw apology to his wife, family, staff, friends, in-laws, people of faith, and South Carolinians for "creating a fiction with regard to where I was going" and cheating on his wife.

"God's law indeed is there to protect you from yourself, and there are consequences if you breach that . This press conference is a cosequence of that," Sanford said. "I've been unfaithful to my wife. I've developed a relationship with what started out as a dear, dear friend from Argentina."

How convenient that all of you 'failed to mention' that the South Carolina Democratic chairwoman refused to beat up on Sanford when she was interviewed because she was concerned for the children and his wife. That was one of the most humane positions I have ever witnessed taken by a democratic party operative. It was really refreshing!!!!!

Right now there really is NO Republican challenger for 2012 and none on the near horizon. Until the Republicans quit pretending to be democratic 'lite' they really aren't going to generate any real interest or leadership. I would guess that the democrats could nominate Adolf Hitler and he would be elected. The country remains locked on a position headed for the edge of the falls and I see nothing to stop us from going over the edge.

It would have been nice had REPUBLICON Sanford been concerned about his kids...esp on Fathers Day.

I suppose that he was thinking about his kids to the same degree that bill clinton was thinking about Chelsea when he was getting a 'lube' job by Monica and the other clinton women. The difference is that clinton had to be forced to admit it via DNA. I am not a fan of sanford but I do feel for his children and his wife. I just wanted to acknowledge what I consider a really decent act the part of the chairwoman of the SC Democatic party. Bravo for her and all the others who aren't taking advantage of the situation due to consideration for his family. No one expects any regular members of this blog to fit into that category.

But for this to be the mantra and standard operating procedure for one of our two major political parties is a real blight on our history. Not that there isn't corruption in the other party as well, but it seems not to be the dominating, corrosive and abusive system employed by the Republicans these many decades.

Simply put, this man brought grief to his wife and family. He also brought shame to himself and to the state he represents.

Let's not talk about fiscal responsibility when talking health care, because all the GOP wants to do is avoid saving money in order to protect insurance company profits.

Another great day in American politics! I had a very important and satisfying appointment that took me away from the TV just as Gov. Sanford began what apparently was one of the most bizarre news conferences in American history. After my appointment I drove home as fast as I could to find out what happened. Well blow me down!!!!!

I knew from the beginning it was a Boog-thang. I'm delighted the Boog was of the female type, that's a real plus. Though I hope we evolve to the point that someday in the future our shock over a Republican politician getting caught in a Boog-thang will be the same no matter if he was porking a man or a woman.....but please....no dogs!

I like sex. If I was rich and famous, I'd still like sex. I have for so long liked sex more than my lovely wife and several times during rough patches, I have found my own Argentina Firecracker, though actually one was from Pontiac, Michigan and the other was was from Louisville, Kentucky.....Firecracker all the same. As a Member of Congress, Mark Sanford voted repeatedly against abortion rights; against gay marriage, civil unions, and gay adoptions; and for posting the Ten Commandments. As Governor, he continued those positions.
