What a magnificent day to be alive!

Really!

Values Voters In a Downturn

"But a funny thing happened on the road to the revival tent. The crash of the economy has concentrated the minds of Americans on other things. Moral conflict just isn't what it used to be.

"We know this thanks to an extremely useful exercise by the Pew Research Center that has not received enough attention. In a survey released in late May, Pew offered respondents the list of issues that appeared on the 2004 exit poll and asked them which one would matter most if they had to vote for president now.

The proportion responding with "moral values" fell by more than half -- from 22 percent in the exit poll (and 27 percent in Pew's own post-2004 election survey) to a mere 10 percent. Concern over the economy and jobs more than doubled, from 20 percent in the 2004 exit poll to 50 percent in the new survey. The other issues that gained substantial ground were health care and education.

The drop in concern over moral values was particularly sharp among older working-class voters who have been trending Republican for years."

What did the Dalia Lama say to the hot dog vendor?

'Make me one with everything'

And so the dalai lama gave the vendor $20 for the hot dog but the vendor did not give him any change.
When the Dalia Lama asked for his change, the vendor replied.... 'change comes from within'

..................because so many asked,,,,,,Frenchie has doc appt. wednesday.
He said he felt better today than in a month.....its always that way, when we decide to
see a doc or dentist the pain just goes away in a poof of smoke.

Wish us a good report,,,,I'll be a basket case.

OK eL - we SURRENDER!!! Reminds me of my mom's addiction to groaners. I won't bore you with them, only representative punch lines:
[] oh, boy-foot bear with Teaks of Chan
[] let squaw bury shortcake (50's - before PC)
[] people who live in glass houses shouldn't stow thrones...

[groan]
;>)

I love this story:
"Sen. Max Baucus got some not-so friendly advice from his Montana constituents last week as he works to reform the health care system: You're doing it all wrong."

Link at the blue name.
I wonder if Blanche or Mark plan on some townhall meetings anytime soon so we can grill them?

BEST prayers/thoughts/whatever to Frenchie, jazzy!!! May he be cured.

Thanks anymouse. Noted-

"Baucus, the chair of the Finance Committee and the leader of reform efforts in the Senate, scheduled 20 town hall meetings with constituents across the state to talk about the future of health care. The Senate was out of session, but Baucus, a Democrat, didn't personally attend. Instead, he sent staff and a video-recorded message."

So Baucus knows how to use advance men. Sounds as if Montana elected them a B.Lincoln Demo too.

.

Ralph Nader slams the President because of the bankruptcy of GM. He says the shareholders, workers, dealers and others were forced to bend over and take it while a certain few will come out on top.

Jazzy, you will be fine. Knowing what's wrong has to be less stressful than the things youre imagining. Maybe it's just a simple infection? let's pray it's nothing more than that.

one thing Frenchie needs to learn from this, in my humble opinion, in which Im sure he has NO interest whatsoever, is that he needs to go to the doctor at least once a year whether he feels great all the time or not. None of us are getting any younger. even the Dali Lama is gonna have trouble with his cholesterol if he keeps on eating those hot dogs. ;)

good luck. dont let him weasel out on going, ok? and try not to worry or borrow trouble. y'all will both be in our prayers. And now please let us know asap what the doctor said, ok? Just in general terms, you dont have to post Frenchie's entire personal medical history here. But he HAS to go to the doctor. I know that you know that and I know its impossible not to worry, but try not to let it get to you too badly, ok?

tell frenchie that, if he cancels his appointment just because he wakes up feeling fine that day, I personally, along with the Wonder Dog and his bride, the Hissy Fit Champion of All Time, will be moving in with you and nagging the poor man until he does go. I think you might be too tenderhearted, but not me, and definitely not the Hissy Fit Queen, who leaves you with 3-day migraines. ;)

seriously, thanks for letting us know & please keep us updated. and do try not to worry too much. the reality is usually not nearly as bad as everything you can dream up to worry about, you know?

Don't know how this will work in your household, Jazzy, but I strongy recommend that you go in to see the doctor with Frenchie. That's what I finally had to do with hubby after discovering everything he had been keeping from me and from the doctor. Now, every appointment, I'm trailing along behind, listening, making sure we both understand and, if necessary, telling on hubby.
I do withdraw before the prostrate exam because it embarrasses ME. That's when the doctor gets to talk to hubby privately. Heh. Hubby was appalled the time he was asked if he was sexually active -- just acted like he didn't hear the question, he said. I don't believe the dear man has ever thought about what women have to go through at the gynecologist's office.

So this guy went to the doctor for his annual physical. You know the routine--reflexes, breathing, EKG, blood testing, and finally the prostate exam.

The doctor said, "I've got good news and bad news. The good news is you don't show any sign of cancer. Your prostate looks completely healthy. But the bad news is you're going to have to stop masturbating."

The patient said, "Why, doctor?"

The doctor replied, "It distracts me."

I saw Ralph Nader this afternoon in a CNBC interview and I'm tickled that two weeks ago he decided to get involved in this process! As Phil Lebow of CNBC asked, "where were you seven months ago?"

Oh John A,,,that is funny...........thanks to my blog family for care and concern, I will let you
know what we find out,,,hell I'll publish it in the ADG, shout from the rooftop, I was never good
at not spilling my guts to any et all who would listen. He will keep the appt. and I will go if he
wants me,,,,,we have an open marriage, as long as its what I want to do.....:>)

Baby unhappy tonight....Nana n Papa ready for early bed, listen to WWL New Orleans radio.

goodnight,,,bon nuit

I've thot about Zonker all day....what a lovely man.

Me too jazzy. I've been staying busy just to avoid remembering. Lost too many good friends in May. zonker is the fourth. Life is so fleeting.
"Just when you think you know something, time to go home."
I think that was from Stanley in Wag the Dog.

Jazzy Glad you are getting Frenchie to the doc.
Its been a bad day in Rock City..........

I think we all need a little cheering up. Seems like it's all been bad news today. Here's the feel good story for tonight--Tigger finds a diamond. Clicky

Health care reform?

"Here's why Baucus is not doing the people's business:

According to OpenSecrets.org, over his career he has taken donations from:

* The Insurance Industry: $1,170,313
* Health Professionals: $1,016,276
* Pharmaceuticals/Health Products Industry: $734,605
* Hospitals/Nursing Homes: $541,891
* Health Services/HMOs: $439,700

Baucus has shown his bias and should be removed from leading the health care reform effort by the Democratic Party leadership.

That is a grand total of $3,902,785. Can we trust Baucus to put aside the profits of the industries that have kept him in the Senate? Will he put the people's necessities ahead of the profits of his contributors? Baucus has shown his bias and should be removed from leading the health care reform effort by the Democratic Party leadership."

Greedy bastards all, bejeeus! Sadly I've already accepted that the current lot of Dems (and Repubs, of course) ARE NOT going to go against their insurance/pharmaceutical Masters by giving us meaningful heathcare reform. At this point I'm afraid the situation is going to be worse by the time the lobbyists get through writing our healthcare legislation. The remaining question is whether Obama will veto a plan that taxes healthcare-giving employees and our benefits...or whether he'll roll over for the--ha ha--'greater good.'
