Supreme Court candidate

Appeals Court Judge Courtney Henry officially announced her candidacy for state Supreme Court today.

She'd earlier indicated she'd run for the seat temporarily filled by Justice Elana Wills, appointed to serve following Justice Tom Glaze's retirement. Wills can't run for her seat.

Circuit Judge John Fogleman of Marion has long been planning to make the race.

I believe this announcement says "Embargoed until June 7, 2009." Is it supposed to be released already? What's up?

ARK. BLOG:

1) She had said -- and we had reported -- previously that she was going to run.

2) Blast e-mailed news releases that attempt to unilaterally impose embargoes on recipients without prior agreement of the recipients typically get little or no embargo consideration, particularly when it's old news.

She is hot.

I know judicial races are non-partisan and everything, but...which way does she hang?

>>I will have devoted ten years exclusively to
appellate law and worked on approximately 1800 appeals."<<

Not to disparage the candidate (for whom I will vote) but much of that is from being
a clerk.

"(for whom I will vote)"

'nuf said. Thanks eLwood.

Somebody didn't read the press release.

Whatever her legal qualifications, we just have to know her religious inclinations, right?
NOT.

I kinda like my Supreme Court justices to have been practicing attorneys first.

Maybe that's just me.

I will also point out that her campaign ads for her last race trumpted her "Conservative judicial values" all over westwood 1 radio (ie, Rushbo).

Take that for what it's worth.

Definately hot!!!

DBI and I would love for her to look over our briefs.

With all due respect to Justice Henry, she simply does not have the extensive experience we have come to expect in our Arkansas Supreme Court Justices. And, I'll be happy to look both David Pryor and John Paul Hammerschmidt in the eye and tell them so the next time I see them. My advise to her would be to put her name on a lot more Arkansas Court of Appeals decisions and try again in about 8-10 years. Give me a break!

Hugh Mann:
She's a Republican in Democrat clothes, just like Sen. Mark Pryor, David's son. She's blond and female, but other than that, you won't find much difference between her and Mark Pryor. Voters beware!
