A Cloar for Crystal Bridges?

Leslie Peacock suggests this Carroll Cloar is heading to Bentonville.

What? Nothing on velvet?

Saw a few of Cloar's works at the place in Memphis years ago.

Here's more of his work at Art Net

There is a wonderful Cloar of a Depression era scene of children holding an American flag, I have a copy that I love. This particular scene hung in the Oval Office while Clinton was POTUS.

...the American flag picture, not Second Sight, the one purchased by Crystal Bridges.

Tacky comment Gnusman...there are some pretty nice pieces headed to Crystal Bridges

I love it. thanks for the link elwood.

"Tacky comment Gnusman..." Nanc

Not so, Nanc, given the quality of products WalMart sells.

Give me $19 billion on a platinum platter ala Alice Walton and I think I could do more public good than she ever will. And I promise not to kill an innocent woman while speeding and then get off with a paltry fine and nothing more. I don't have a whole lot of respect for Alice Walton, museum or no museum to make her look good.

Some things you can't buy.

>>And I promise not to kill an innocent woman while speeding and then get off with a paltry fine and nothing more.<<

After having 5 cocktails at a Fayetteville restaurant.

It's swell when your dad can fly in the best accident investigation team in the country to prove his daughter was innocent of speeding down a small Ark highway early in the morning in her Porsche.

Wasn't so influential when caught by Chickenopolis police for her following DWI. She was screaming at them "Do you know WHO I am!" Yes they did but it's a very strict and clean municipal court that was run then and now. She had to do 6 weeks of community service to avoid jail on that one. I think her personal physician, Deepok Chopra, approved.

Then to get even she ups and moves to no-income tax Texas costing Ark about $300,000 per year
cutting horses became the cause de clebre.

Now there's the redemption of Art in the hinterlands.

A couple or three years ago the Southeast Arkansas Art Museum in Pine Bluff had a magnificent exhibition of about 30 of Cloar's works, all on loan from private collectors. We drove down to take a look, since one seldom gets to see so much of Cloar in one place. You art lovers who frequent the LR area should find time to visit Greg Thompson's new gallery at 429 Main (second floor of the historic Faucett building) in NLR. Thompson, who specializes in important Arkansas artists, has several Cloar pieces for sale. Also some great works by Barry Thomas, Mark Blaney, and J.O. Buckley, among several other truly talented artists. Check it out. You'll be mighty glad ya did.
