Pundit Palin
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is now an opinion columnist, writing in the Washington Post about cap-and-trade legislation. Amazing she found time to research and write this while dealing with the hounding that drove her from office.

We need some national used item to be named after sarah as a constant reminder of her brilliance -- "sanitary napkin" perhaps?

There's no way she wrote this. It's like, ya know, got (wink, wink) complete sentences and all... you betcha! And she didn't mention the troops. It's just not "mavericky."

Does anyone believe that Palin would be able to write an op-ed by herself? Does she have ghost writers? It is plagiarism if someone else actually writes her columns without getting byline credit.

Now, for the content. 1) Will every single government program now be called a "tax?" 2) Was she attending one of her 4-5 colleges when the Exxon Valdez spill happened? I suppose she's never really seen an environmental disaster. There are not mountains of oil under the western states and there is no such thing as clean coal. The only way we're going to change our polluting ways is to make it economically feasible. Cap and Trade is simply a more politically palatable alternative to actual government mandates. To be honest, the mandates and actual energy taxes to go with them would be much more effective in reducing consumption, pollution, and our dependence on foreign oil. Cap and Trade will simply lead to the same kinds of avoidance we have with the IRS. But it's at least a step in the right direction.
Typical Republican. Wants something for nothing and blames Democrats for deficit spending even after the 8-year spending orgy called George W. Bush. Sorry, Sarah. That "trickle-down" on my leg isn't rain. And you're the very last person on earth that could convince me that it was.
Not all of America is as stupid as you are.

The question is, why do they continue to try to convince us that this woman has any substance whatsoever?
She is clearly a buffoon and a sad example of the quality of leadership being offered by the Republican party. Much like our own former governor, however, she will continue to fail upwards into 'fame and fortune'.
Only in America!

Hell no she didn't write it.
No one exemplifies today's typical Republican better than Palin...white superficial beauty backed up by one-line superficial talking points (i.e., 'drill baby drill). Lucky for the rest of us most of these Palin Republicans are headed for political oblivion because of their narrow worlds, unyielding minds and collective ignorance. (Unless, of course, they do what they've done before: Steal power through tyranny/fear).

Yes, that and election fraud, vote theft and the illegal manipulation of electronic voting machines.

Doubtful that leather-skirted Sarah penned this. It's like a mail out for the Republicon Party.
Two big whoppers in the opening paragraph.
1. Employment always trails in a recovery
2. "government's reach into the private sector"-this is pure tin-foil hat stuff. None of them clamored when Bush initiated reading our email, library reading lists, bank accounts and residence searches without warrants of any type.
I understand the traditionally conservative WaPo needs to boost readership/circulation. But using this butcher of the language is a bit much.

How many "books", and I use that term loosely, did our former Governor Mike Huckabee write while in office on our dime? And whose desperate enough to look to Mike for wisdom? Same thing with Sarah Palin. X number of Americans will buy anything.
I feel sorry for poor dead J. William Fulbright, poor dead John McClellan, poor dead Wilbur Mills. They missed out on a giant income stream by not knowing that X number of Americans will buy anything...and these were people who KNEW SOMETHING to write about! Our loss.
But only people like Mike Huckabee & Sarah Palin can make it OUR LOSS to actually read their garbage. It's quite an accomplishment to become dumber by reading a book or newspaper article, but a scientific study would surely show reading Huck & Sarah lowers one's IQ. Mama always told me to be careful who I ran around with....and boy, was she ever right. Books, or should I say "books" by dumbasses out for a profit & self-glory will make you as stupid as regularly watching Fox News. So tell your eyes right now.....eyes! Be careful who you read!

I agree there is no way this Mayor of Wasilla wrote this.May be she has found her niche signing other peoples thoughts, mainly BIG OIL, which is a staple to Alaska, it is the only revenue they have almost since the State is almost completely feed on US tax payer dollars.
The part she left out of exit speech was her convention signature speech Quote " I guess a small town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities." And yes it is funny how this wisdom has been forgotten by her supporters now that she has abandoned her on actual responsibilities in public office, and would even give time to read anything this woman has to say, or listen to this ear wrenching voice. Yes this Woman was Governor of the State that ranks #1 in federal pork.

Extremists Are Calling Your Senators - Help Counter the Lies
The right wing is flooding Senate offices with 300,000 letters and calls labeling the Matthew Shepard Act the "Pedophile Protection Act" and urging them to vote NO.
The Senate could cave to the pressure if we don't act right now - critical votes are in the balance.
Please make two 45-second calls: one to each of your senators' offices. Call 202-224-3121 and tell each senator to vote YES on the hate crimes bill."

Yes she wrote it. She has a degree in journalism. At least she can give a speech without a teleprompter. Reading some of these postings really shows how petty some of your lives are. eLwood, I can only guess what trash you read or what you consider to be literature. Why don't you write your own book and let us critique it. I just hope it doesn't lover my IQ and turn me into a moron like yourself.

MyView,
Having a degree and knowing anything are not inclusive. She has shown that her knowledge of almost any subject is small. Too many big words and in succession without the commas that reflect the way she speaks.
You don't want to get into an argument with those of this blog. Too many well-educated and well-read individuals who know a "snow job" when they read it. Did you actually read the piece?
She forgot the fact that most producing oil wells in the US and in such areas as Kuwait and Saudi Arabia are past their prime and the output is falling on a per well basis. Even the Iranians know that once their oil is gone, you can't burn sand and are looking at nuclear power. So are other countries in the Middle East.
Drilling is part of the "dying swan business" model-more and more holes, each producing less and less until we have a lot of holes producing nothing of value. If oil was readily available, why are so many wells shut down in Texas and Oklahoma. It is costing more to getthe oil out of the ground than the value of the product.

It is interesting to see the citizens of "the natural state" giving lectures on the environment.
Arkansas, home of the clear cut, water tainted by chicken and hog waste, and unbridled shale oil production. Arkansans seem to be unqualified to criticize Alaskans on Mother Nature.

Couldn't Be Better:
The way one speaks has no bearing on the way one writes. Thank-you for warning me of the many "well-educated and well-read Individuals" on this blog. As you said "Having a degree and knowing nothing are not inclusive" so that should level the playing field with the contributors on this blog. As for your question "Did you actually read the piece?" Yes I did and was pleased with the content. We can have a civil discourse but please don't patronize me.
You wrote of her forgetting the fact that most wells are past their prime in U.S, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Forgot? Then I must ask you, did you forget to mention the vast amounts of oil and natural gas off our shores, in Alaska and many other locations in the world. I agree we need to move on and find other energy sources. This should have been started many years ago with our first energy threats in the 70s. We can blame it on "Big Oil" or on either political party. We can blame special interest and activist as well. These arguments are old and tiring. They have gotten us nowhere. The fact is, we are a oil-based society and til we come up with other methods we will continue to be.
The sad fact that most citizens have little trust in the judgment of our political leaders and their motives. When you have and had Presidents, their cabinets and members of Congress involved in and profiting in all aspects of energy production both present and future, clouds and pollutes the discussion. Real solutions must come from the private sector and pushed through with public support.

Has "Trolls 'R Us" put the ARBlog on its hit list? There seems to be an escalating number of them (2 in 9 min, above) showing up here to dump their trash and pollute it. We know they are Trolls because they haven't tripped over the fact that the people who "hang" here are the antithesis of Arkansas voters, and aside (usually) from Vic are "represented" by DINO'S who think just like them Trolls...wake up you carpetbaggers!!!
Caribou Barbie Moosejaw is a Moron, and if you somehow align with her, so am you...buh-bye now.
