Slow day open line

Talk among yourselves.

Kat Robinson at Eat Arkansas visited the Arkansas Foodie Festival in Argenta, open until 2 p.m. The Clinton Library is having its family festival starting at 4 p.m., but there's free admission all day to the cool library confines. Big crowd at River Market Farmers Market today. But, frankly, the tomato selection was uninspiring.

Heavy thunderstorms are drowning out July 4th in much of NWA. I was in Huntsville at lunch time at the Town Branch and all the waitresses were moaning about their afternoon-evening plans for celebration after the downpour began. When returning to Chickenopolis I noted the usually packed Rodeo of the Ozarks was not packed.

Here's the parade which I didn't make this year:

Then here's some of the Rodeo by Zack Lehr:

I'm going to repeat my post since there's a new thread:

Gov. Sanford AWOL again as fifth serial killer victim dies.... wow, this is Republican Governors from Mars day. Sanford is in Florida. How do y'all think any Arkansas governor - or ANY governor would be acting if five people had been shot in their homes in one county of our state by an apparent serial killer who isn't taking the holiday off?

Incredible.

Frankly, the tomato PLANT selection was dismal this year. I did find some Mr. Stripeys and grabbed them. Sad to say, the Mr. Stripeys I've enjoyed in years past are not the Mr. Stripeys I bought and planted this year. Getting ripe and they're only golf ball sized. #!*&%! A lot smaller than the Early Girls. I hope they taste better than they look right now.
I swear, next year, I'm gonna start the varieties I want in my sunroom EARLY. Right now I'm pinning my hopes on a few plants I started late outside: Hillbillies, Mary Robinson German Bi-color and French Marmande. Maybe I started some too late for this year, especially the Germans, but we shall see.
And while I'm on the subject, anyone know specifically which variety of German tomato is fairly mild in flavor, huge, boat-shaped ( a deep, deep depression on the stem end) and has "potato" leaves? Since losing my original source, I've been trying one or two varieties every year and I haven't hit it yet.
Ooooo. I do believe I want a tomato and mayonnaise sandwich for supper. (I swear, docs, only light mayonnaise.)((But a lot of it.))

Nearly fell out of my chair earlier when I read this by a BAPTIST pastor in The Moron News-

Government, Religion Don't Mix Well
"I read a story recently of a church that did not have a pastor. When a pastor was found, he raised the question about the appropriateness of displaying the American flag during their worship services.

The fallout from that question resulted in a sad and angry church split.

But there is an interesting side note to this story: During the months while they searched for a new pastor, the congregation simply forgot to celebrate the Lord's Supper. No one said a word.

I love my country. There is no place I would rather live. I relish the freedoms we enjoy and I am grateful for those who gave their lives, their health and their dreams so I have the freedom to write this newspaper column, vote for whoever I prefer and, most of all, worship as I choose.

In Saudi Arabia, the Islamic government has given full police power to the CPVPV (Commission to Promote Virtue and Prevent Vice). Minority Muslims and non-Muslims are vulnerable to various forms of religious discrimination and persecution.

But the examples of this problem are not limited to other nations. In our own country there are those who would prefer a similar relationship between government and religion.

Rev Sheely is clicky

Thanx eLwood,,,,,,very good. Not all believers are batshit crazy.

eLwood, I can remember a time when separation of church/state was the cornerstone of Baptist ideology. But that was before Baptist leaders allowed Falwell, Criswell, and Robertson hijack the leadership in a space ship to la la land.

How's the rain? I'm watering like the dickens trying to encourage it. Perhaps if I were to wash this Lincoln.......

Steve McNair found shot to death.

Cartoon

clicky

If I remember correctly, jazzy, he had an extensive rap sheet.

Now now Mag, don'tcha know he is trying to fall back in love with his wife???

He would never see whats inside my size 5's again....you bet'cha.

Cato,,,,don't they all???? female found dead with him.

Hope they don't carry on a 2 week funeral on tee vee.

VP Biden opens up the outlook for increased violence in Iraq. Tells leaders in Iraq that the U.S. might disengage if violence increases. Tells Iraq if you behave we will stay but if you act up we might leave.
Anyone want to bet that the bad boys are taking notice? Will the U.S. leave behind a killing zone or maybe that's not a bad thing to do. Let them spend the next few years killing themselves and then do a Clinton on them and bomb the hell out of Iraq like he did to Bosnia.

Im sorry but who is Steve McNair?

Mr Sanford would be addressing me through my divorce lawyer only at this time if he were my husband. He probably figures his political career is in such wobbly shape it doesnt matter if he goes back and acts responsible now while there's a serial killer on the loose, but it would be a nice little gesture if he did.

personally I hope he runs off with Sarah Barracuda and neither is ever seen or heard from again.

jazzy, im so out of the loop I thought you meant size 5 SHOES for a minute. Huh?? her shoes? I think that means it's been way too long............ but not with him, thanks. Hope Armand is doing as well as possible today.

we have a lot of thunder and just a little rain. my neighbor has called twice for me to go down & check on her son's pool. since it was naptime for me and the Wonder Dog, I ignored this request until a more suitable time. LIke when it isnt raining.

Sometimes, I think Mike Huckabee looks like comedian Jonathon Winters.

>>eLwood, I can remember a time when separation of church/state was the cornerstone of Baptist ideology.<<

Me 2. In fact there used to be a British, somewhat fundie if that's possible, minister on TV expounding why they don't want an official religion in the USA. After the ascent of Robertson/Falwell/etc the Brit disappeared.

In Chickenopolis the messicuns are reproducing at 3x the rate of WASPS. It's Beaver Lake water ya know with the pill/viagra hormones concentrated in it. So in 20-25 yrs Catholics could become equal to Baptists. Wouldn't that be a hoot.

football player............

size 5 panty.....naw, my shoe is 8.....used to think that was big till I started looking at the
young gals,,,,,,,gee whiz, 10, 11

Get the verdict on Armand the 9th.....his family, in Canada, calling most every day, to his
cell phone, 'cause they know I don't speka de french.

Tina you really need to get out more!!! LOL

jazzy, unless you really trust Armand's medical providers it's wise, when possible, to get another
opinion on stuff this serious. Keep in mind a diagnosis is an opinion which should be backed up with tests and other evidence.

Jazzy, you got that right. There just isn't anywhere to get out TO in this little small town I live in besides one tacky "private club." might as well hang a sign on yourself that says LOOKING FER A MAN if you go there, because that's really all it's for, besides of course a place to consume many beers. nothnig wrong with that, just not for me.

eLwood is totally right, a second opinion is always a good idea. take Frenchie's actual CT scans on a CD or whatever and as much info on the biopsy report as you can get. the Casodex is a pretty standard treatment, but I only know that b/c I transcribe quite a bit of urology reports, and that's all I know which is really nothing. But eLwood is right.

has everyone bought their tickets to michael jacksons memorial service yet? Thats one of the tackiest things I have ever heard of, selling tickets to a funeral. well, along with how so many grown women can profess to love a man who was a known child molester. And whoever let their little boys go spend the night with that man ought to be in jail right this minute and forevermore, as far as I'm concerned.

not all Baptists are crazy or Bible-beaters. we have a very progressive Baptist church here in town with a young pastor and lots of life in it, lots and lots of kids and teenagers, young families, and lots of wise old folks too. It surprised me, but I've gotten a lot out of worshiping there. and no, Jazzy, I havent met a single man yet.

Right now the Wonder Dog and I just wish there was a restaurant here that delivered something besides pizza. Im allergic.

Thanx eL....Dr. Wright is top urologist in H S ,,,,Baby dau, who works in medical field, has
all faith in him. Poor sweetheart has been poked, proded, drained of blood, dye injected,
x-rayed, bone scanned, ass made to bleed...................
DAMN what human body has to endure before death...........he always told me, *It's not
death I fear but the getting there.*
I could be flip and say men need a little taste of what women endure in childbirth but I can't
say that about Frenchie....best man in the world, wrapped me in cotton for 30 years.

We don't lose hope....waiting for dark and the fireworks to begin on the lake...........
Boston Pops, Capitol Fourth..............
I try to keep things light,,,,,its so hard.

This will brighten your day. Do the clicky

So in 20-25 yrs Catholics could become equal to Baptists. Wouldn't that be a hoot.
************
37% of Hispanics living in the US are "Born Again Xtians"and that % is expected to increase, so the Baptists will get run out of town by Mexican Pentecostals.

I don't know spunkrat, but he is definitely not as funny or as sharp (mentally). But it never seemed that Jonathan cared about clothes that much. They were just props for his humour.

Huckabeen does dress better, his suits are only the finest donations can buy.

WOW....what a show we have going on here, hope one won't fall back to earth on our roof.....
all we need now is to be burned out.
Neil Diamond singing, *America,* he needs to retire,,,,like all the old farts who go to the
graveyard in Branson, Mo.

Jonathan was a sweetheart...........Huckabuck,,,,,,NOT.

Lordy..........what boom booms, we are under attack.

Tina--MJ memorial service tickets are being given away by a lottery system--not sold. 1.6 million people have registered but there are only about 10,000 tickets. I can't believe how many people they still show hanging out around his house or his family's house etc. I just want to say to them--Yes, MJ is dead. He wasn't your father, your brother, your uncle or your best friend. Get a life!

"He would never see whats inside my size 5's again....you bet'cha."

Thanks for the laugh Jazzy! I knew what you meant by size 5's. My thought is that the size 8 shoes would come in handy for kicking him where it would hurt the most!

Just made the Chickenopolis-Rodeo of Ozarks fireworks display. It's closer to home than the new
Arvest Park-the new baseball stadium display and the Rodeo celebration was bigger, longer and better.

Pippin the Dog, blessherheart, went into shivering mode, that bold predator beast curled up under my friend's dashboard and hasn't come out from under the bed since we returned.

I've read that there are some basic things that all animals fear. Loud, sudden noises is one of them, the fear of falling is another.
Anyone know the other basic fears?

Fayetteville was too broke this year to have a fireworks display.

jaz, when I was a youngster there the Wright family was practicing some fine medicine. Still
my late mother's case taught me much. She had a pain on the side of her neck below her ear.
Her GP said it was nothing so she saw one in his clinic who knew a bit more and he assured her nothing was wrong. She was suspect of them both, went to entirely different practice group and they discovered she had lymphatic cancer in the beginning stage. Caught it early and fixed it.

My late, dear sister died an early death due to misdiagnosis by an expert. She was gone at 45. Beloved woman.

From all indications, this Iran thing isn't over by a long shot. Do the clicky

thanks for the info on the jackson funeral. I agree -- wish you could make those idiots just shut up and go home.

Jazzy, you're a strong woman --- they dont make 'em weak in louisiana OR arkansas -- and now it's your turn to let frenchie lean on you. good ol' dr phil would say you've been his soft place to fall, making a comfortable and pleasant home for him, all these years. Try not to imagine and expect the worst. Prostate cancer is highly curable. I will personally come sit in the surgery waiting room with you if you need someone. But I know your family will take care of you.

the size 8s would be excellent way to deliver a message to that cheating worm Sanford. good idea!

I've never seen fireworks on lake hamilton but have always wanted to -- did they get to shoot them last night? We had severe t-storms starting about 8, just when they had lifted the watch or whatever it was. No fireworks here Im afraid. Today could go either way.

Jazzy, hang in there. you and yours are in our thoughts and prayers.
