The morning Huck UPDATE

Mike Huckabee did some pre-spinning in advance of his filing later today of his quarterly Huck PAC reports. But, as The Tolbert Report notes, his $300,000 fund-raising in the first six months of the year paled in comparison to Romney's $1.9 million and Palin's $733,000 (reportedly enhanced substantially after her resignation announcement July 3.)

Huck's PAC numbers don't include the big speaking fee he notched appearing for a Republican candidate in Alabama who went in the hole on his fund-raiser thanks to the Huckacharge.

UPDATE: Tolbert has expanded his post to note that he and other Huckabee supporters don't think the Huckster is doing enough to nourish his political roots and focus the work of the PAC. With Huck, it's all about the money (for himself), which even Tolbert more or less acknowledges:

If Gov. Huckabee is serious about running for President again in 2012 and all indications are that he is, then he must address this problem.  I think it is wonderful that he has been successful with his ventures in television and radio.  If he chooses to focus on that, then great.  But if he really wants to be a contender, then he must get serious about fundraising and he must raise these funds directly.

UPDATE II: Here's the actual FEC report. The PAC has run up a debt of more than $60,000. It passed out a grand total of $10,000 to other candidates. Contributions include an April contributon of $1,000 from Gene Cauley, who is unlikely to be making further donations. Bob Dole gave $1,000. Ronald Cameron of North Little Rock contributed $5,000 and Janet Huckabee tossed in $1,530. Elizabeth Dole's PAC gave $5,000.

The Lord will provide for His chosen few.

I checked with my wife and she confirmed that we can live pretty well on 600 thousand a year. I thought so, but I wanted to check with her before I typed. Of course we don't eat as much as the Huckabees and there aren't as many of us scrambling to constantly feed on the sweet sweet public titties. But I think we could live well if we'd only begged 300 thousand in the first 6 months of 2009.

The HuckPACs could live a whole lot cheaper if they stayed closer to their McMansion at 1313 Mockingbird Lane, but hell, that wouldn't be any fun. It's amazing how most of our leaders Heart Arkansas the best when they stay as far away as possible for the longest amounts of time. And notice how many of our retired Washington-ites chose to stay around DC when they retire or are Hutchinsoned out of office. Nothing says I love you Arkansas like leaving and never coming back.

We also must remember that this HuckPac report probably doesn't count any of the money Mike makes when he slips on his Baptist preacher robes and hits the C grade churches sucking up them Love Offerings. And I bet this report doesn't show anything that Jennings has given him this year...tell me there isn't a long term love affair hiding in that relationship.

I just don't think Huckabee is going to be happy until he accumulates enough free money to allow him to live like the Maharajah of Cooch Behar. That's the position he's shooting for.....he'd have to actually work if he was President instead of the constant contender. Can someone say Amen?

AMEN brother DBI. Sing it, brother!

I'm sure that Lava Huck needs a 30-something accountant whose sole political experience was acting as an alternate delegate to the 2008 Republican National Convention. You tell'um Jason.
You da genius, da man who did all the hard knocks, pumped thousands of hands, plead deeply and sincerely for money when there was none around, the man who cultivated MoMoney friendships over the years and lost a few elections. Jason, when a poor, ignorant woman in Texas gives You her wedding band for your campaign, then and only then will I give you credibility, and only then if you shape a TV show around it. Hint to Jason: watch some old episodes of "Queen for a Day."
No, Jason, it wasn't about coming out of the closet. It was one of the slickest cons which operated on daytime TV. Believe me Jason, back when Huck was helpin momma scrape their dirt floor and walking 5 miles for a bar of Lava soap Queen for a Day was beamed to every household
and Huck probably had to watch it in front of a Western Auto store window...po folks did that.

I'm wondering what and when tent revivals left the mainstream of Hicksville? Seems there was always a few tents full in Benton County. Have TV evangelicals sucked up all the Jesus-in-a-tent money or is it the economy that's shut them out?

I'm wondering if this Cheney Recession will go deep enough so that Jesus-in-a-tent returns? Not only could the UnAmericanBorn President be demonized there's a big surplus of other fears to be exploited for MoMoney. I'm just saying this in case the new, improved tent revival, called FOX News, doesn't pan out for Huck. I'm thinking the black boy from Chicago may not be able to rebuild the economic walls from the bombs Cheney dropped on us then what? Few able to pay cable bills. Shizz, just yesterday I received a 30 day advance notice that my cable bill is due.

Maybe, for Benton County, it's going to take durango's predicition of WalMart leaving for Jesus-in-a-Tent to return. I can just see throngs of realtors flocking into the tents seeking the magic and a few of them donning the costume of preacher and buying a couple of flat bed trucks. Then here comes Lava Huck with his 18-wheeler and full house band to pitch tent.
