Step up, Little Rock
Do you watch Keith Olbermann?
If you do, you know he and others have targeted New Orleans and Little Rock as the next sites of the successful mass free medical clinics that have been staged by an organization that specializes in them.
It's simple. Millions can't afford health insurance and aren't covered by Medicare or Medicaid. When Free Clinics set up shop, thousands start lining up in the middle of the night for inspection of problems small, large, vexing and profound.
Olbermann's idea, of course, is to shame fence-sitters in Congress to do something about the shame of America, a lack of universal health care.
Olbermann's viewers have contributed more than $800,000 so far, enough, he says, to hold two more clinics. But facilities and money to pay people to secure the facilities are needed.
Here's where Little Rock can step up.
Judge Villines, you with the county surplus sufficient for two pay raises in three months for county employees who receive FREE health insurance. Mayor Hays, you with your nearby Verizon Arena and your plan to pay for your grandiose river museums and other luxuries from people's electricity bills. You Mayor Stodola, who thinks saving snack stands in the River Market is critcal enough to turn them over to the cash-rich Advertising and Promotion Commission. LR A&P, you with a convention center and parking decks and lots of money. Dr. Kumpuris, you who knows about medical care and who loves to see hordes of people and national attention in our new downtown:
Step up, all of you. All we need is a building and some security guards. Then thousands of needy Arkansans can get some free medical attention. Does Little Rock have a heart?
What say you all? Contribute to the cause here.

My check will be in the mail tomorrow, first thing.
It will be smaller than I prefer
because I just scheduled cataract surgery for next month and co-pays, perhaps
taxi fares, new eye glasses, etc will take a chunk.

Time to put some pressure on these gutless wonders who call themselves representatives of the people. Make them look like the tools they are. If you're really good, why do you need a bunch of corporate/PAC money to stay in office?

I noted that L.R. with only 1 free clinic from the Ark list. Conway features two, and Hot Springs has two.
Twenty four free clinics listed for Ark which has 75 counties.
I noted that Community Clinic in Chickenopolis was not on the list. It's a Catholic run clinic and bases fees
on patient's ability to pay and dispenses free or reduced-cost meds.
They saved my ass when I was uninsurable back 8 years ago and no regular clinic would accept me because I didn't have insurance. I even offered to pre deposit with two Dr's offices and they still refused.
Wonder how well free-clinics would do if Sen Lincoln gave HALF of her campaign money to a few of them?

I don't know which Old Testament prophet Max is channeling, but it's a good one! Pour it on Max.

Have any of you heard the new song that the children in New Jersey have been signing about the "Oh Great One?" When I heard it, I got a chill up my leg...almost orgasmic. Here are the lyrics. Maybe we could get Max to put the audio clip in here some day so we all can enjoy it. At any rate, here are the Lyrics...Mmm, Mmmmm, Mmm
Mm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said that all must lend a hand
To make this country strong again
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said we must be fair today
Equal work means equal pay
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said that we must take a stand
To make sure everyone gets a chance
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said red, yellow, black or white
All are equal in his sight
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
Yes!
Mmm, mmm, mm
Barack Hussein Obama
Doesn't that just send a chill up your leg or back? I hope you enjoyed signing this as much as I did.
Carfish,
The Liberal POS

Fishguts, you seem to be satirizing the Sermon on the Mount. Why not just ride around Arkansas with an I Hate Jesus bumper sticker so some righteous Christian with a louisville slugger can remodel your car for you.

Great news.. I need to get this leg on my growth checked out.
Do they do dental work?
If I had a bus I could fill it up and haul down friends in need of health care... if they could get off work.

I think I know a bit about our CCMC free medical clinic. Frenchie was there from day one to
donate his time...think it was 1997. Many nights he would not get home till midnight.
He never failed to *show up for duty* even if I bitched and whined about bad weather or
someone else could do it. He just resigned last Jan. after 12 years of not missing more than
2 or 3 times....BTW...great meals brought in by churches in town.
They are now located on Arbor st...across from Majestic Hotel....clinic given to them by
St. Joe hosp.

JHC on a Popsicle stick catsh@t eater! The best you can do is parrot Rush? Can you do the fat-ass dance as well? How about a few lines of, "Barrack, the magic negro?" (I'm not saying Rush is racist. You neither. Just morons.)

I'm happy for the un & under insured of LR that will be able to suck up the medical care that will come from the free clinic if a suitable spot can be found in LR. I wish it was in Fort Baptist....but I'm happy for good things to come to our sister city.
Can we expect to see Rep. Dr. Vic Snyder helping out at the LR free medical clinic when it comes? How about Rep. Dr. John Boozman? How about Dr. Mr. Lincoln? How about Rep. Mike Ross & wife...they can hand out pills and band-aids. Rep. Berry & Sen. Pryor can give out hot towels on a stick to the sick. If they can't vote for real health care, they can at least make themselves helpful to the sick people of Arkansas before they pull the plug on them later in the year.
I'll see if I can slip a little money out of the sugar bowl to lend a hand. I've got the Good Samaritan Clinic here.....I'll be OK. Hate him if you must but Keith Olbermann sure puts his money where his mouth is every time.

Dotto, may I borrow that from time to time? Perhaps we could reduce it to an acronym, CTS.

Matters of life, death and health care in the rural South
n late July, in the heart of Appalachia, thousands crowded onto a southwest Virginia fairground for the annual Wise County free medical clinic led by Remote Area Medical, a volunteer medical relief corps based out of Tennessee. During the clinic's three days of operations, more than 14,000 rural Southern families, most with little or no insurance, spent hours in line to receive free health care from hundreds of professional doctors, nurses, dentists, and other health care workers..
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture [pdf], rural areas have been hit hardest by the nation's broken health insurance system:
Individuals living in rural areas are more likely to be uninsured than those in urban areas (24 percent versus 18 percent), although they are 50 percent more likely to have Medicaid coverage. Two-thirds of the uninsured are low- income families, and 30 percent are children. Even those lower income individuals who are working often lack health insurance due to the structure of employment in rural areas--specifically, smaller employers, lower wages, and greater prevalence of self-employment.
Facing South..on blue name.

Sounds like a job for Barton Coliseum here. This could make it relevant for the first time since 1992.

Big "L,"
I grant you free access to use or quote with remuneration. I would like to use your acronym CTS and the qualifier UCTS when they are a real pain.

This is just funny:
"This just goes to show you that Americans can give better than what the government can give.

Don't you realize that the government is US, WE are the government. Actually, things done by the government don't have the religious strings attached, they are more consistent, and you can figure out what they are. I'm glad there are private charities, but they just don't get to everyone. Once a year is wonderful, but what about the other 360+ days when people aren't getting help? That's where the government comes in.
