Halter hits national TV

Lt. Gov. Bill Halter is scheduled for an appearance tonight on Countdown with Keith Olbermann on MSNBC. The segment is expected to air about 7:15 p.m. our time.

Halter will talk about the free medical clinic to be held Saturday in Little Rock, an event promoted by Olbermann that Halter has helped to arrange.

Olbermann's recent report on a mass clinic in New Orleans undoubtedly will have sad parallels in Little Rock -- people carried on gurneys to hospitals, advanced cancer discovered , people who haven't seen a doctor in years because they couldn't afford it, untreated pain, etc.

The point needs no explanation.

There's been some talk Olbermann will be in town Saturday. He missed the New Orleans event to be with his ailing father.

It is past time in Arkansas to approve electronic bingo with proceeds dedicated to free statewide health clinics. Put it to the voters and we'll approve it.

Or, legalize and tax weed for the same purpose.

Again, if this event is as popular as the free dental clinic in Chickenopolis then expect folks from Mississippi and Tenn to be getting exams.

Up here they showed up from central Texas for cavity repair and infected tooth removal. Some camped out overnight to get their place in line and free care.

Max, perhaps we could get Bryan Chilson down to the civic center with his picture box?

I am in total agreement with Durango on the fundraising schemes. If they legalized and taxed weed I would consider retaking up that old habit from the '70's, just to help fund health care you understand.

Citizen, you could enjoy the old 70's even better now. First thing I want to know is how to get a permit to grow, I'm sure the price will be steep but what the hell, to help the suffering and all, what's a few bucks.

I know that's the way Big Pharma thinks...just heah to hep ya.

But tokin is mucho easier today now that it's high tech. clicky.

I think taxing weed for medical clinics is a FABULOUS idea. You get the petitions started and I'll help you knock on doors to get it approved.
