The video spoof is so stupid. You would think the white house staff would have more important things to do on the taxpayer's time like working on the economy, health care legislation, creating new jobs for America, the war, etc. The spoof should be about the staff, or maybe they are the turkies.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the White House staff that shot this video WERE doing their jobs. I'm sure there are a few public affairs people working there.
I thought it was a good attempt at drumming up interest in something that's usually just a blurb in the paper or a photo on the webpage.

The Republican Scrooges are snarling their "Bah Humbugs" on practically everything remotely connected to Obama.
Now, if you really wanted an ironic spoof, how about pardoning George W. Bush? Talk about saving a real turkey......

What a GREAT thought, Jake!!!! I'll donate to that hoot. Can you actually pardon someone who's not been "charged" with anything??

Even an angry socialist like me smiled at that video.
Once he pardons the turkey, can we get single-payer health care and create 2 million jobs?

LOL I'm not an Obama fan, but that was funny. I may just have to watch the pardon today just for some more laughs.
I don't post on the blog very often, but I do read you guys. I'd like to wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving. Gobble, gobble.

>>Can you actually pardon someone who's not been "charged" with anything??<<
See Republican President Gerald R. Ford who pardoned Republican President Richard. M. Nixon prior to
Nixon being charged with anything. Nixon resigned as Articles of Impeachment were being drawn in
the House of Representatives.

Ah I see Jake was way ahed of me..)
Yes, Larry.. the Pres may pardon someone even if no charges exist.
Question.... why is it always a gobbler who gets pardoned? Isn't it time we pardoned a hen?

Sister Sarah would've done the right thing and shot that gobbler from a helicopter.
Regarding the premise of the post, find something the haters DON'T bitch about. Then, we'll have some news to discuss.

So ArkDude--it's OK to make umpteen videos about Barney the dog while Bush was in the White House but not to do a little PR for the traditional turkey pardoning?
At least it's not showing Obama standing there talking while a turkey is getting killed--Sarah Palin style PR!

Well, Max, I'm chuckling. Not quite a chortle or a cackle, even given the day. But a chuckle, and unexpected from a White House not particularly noted for its wit and whimsy. But I notice that most of the "haters" you predicted are (so far) haters of Geo. W. Bush, who just can't let it go and join the rest of us in the year 2009.

Hell, Cas - we're still hearing Bill Clinton whining...we got a LONG way to go. Besides, he never got the "formal" rewards for being The. Worst. President. Ever. As we're now witnessing Afghanistan become the latest "quagmire," he'll likely even ruin THIS presidency!!!

If you wait for Republicans to laugh, you'll be waiting a long, long time. They only laugh at poor people who need health care. (reference the rich doctor's wife we discussed last week.)

Arkdude,
If the Republicans legislators and leadership did or said something besides "No!", occasionally, the White House Staff wouldn't have all that free time to sit around and think of YouTube videos to boost ratings on a turkey pardoning. But since the G.O.P. persists in stopping, stalling and delaying every single piece of legislation and action the administration proposes, the predominate requirement of their jobs is patience until the majority can trick, cajole, or coerce the minority and stealth minority into any bipartisan action.
Perhaps this is just the G.O.P. legislators' and leadership's for of keeping jobs for disadvantage Democratic political operatives.
