Republican Party discipline
The Republican National Committee apparently may be on the verge of instituting a 10-point test of adherence to GOP principles. If this takes effect, a candidate who disagreed on more than two points would not get party support. Shouldn't be much trouble for the herd lining up for federal office in Arkansas.

(1) Hypocrisy is a familiar value we must embrace every 4 to 6 years.
(1a) We support smaller government, smaller national debt, lower deficits and lower taxes by opposing bills like Obama's "stimulus" bill;
(note Bush's TARP Bill is missing).

I note that they endorse going to war but AGAIN, want to cut domestic spending which includes veteran's care. What a bunch of garbage.
It is interesting that the most used word is "OPPOSE" which is right for the party of NO.
I note that they fail to note that 90% of the deficit was run up by Republican presidents who were loose with the checkbook but ran on cutting spending. They should support the Democratic plan to pay for the war with a tax increase. In fact, I want a tax increase, an increasing tax surcharge, on every defense bill since we apparently out-defend every other country in the world. Too bad those guys in Afganistan havemn't read our press clippings.

Yep, Couldn't Be Better. A full seventy per cent of the ten resolutions require "opposing" as part of the resolution while the "retention of DOMA" is an implied opposition.
What are the probabilities of electing congressmen, senators and executive branch officials that will improve and make the government better when the approved candidates are at a minimum engaged in "opposing" at lease 60% of the time. I think Chairman Steele has found a way to move the G.O.P. to the "die-hard" base for decades to come. The party of "No" for now and the future.
Time will tell on the efficacy of this strategy for a political party. Can anyone else think of political parties that demanded this level of loyalty from it's members, candidates and operatives in the past. Clik

Given this kind of mentality, why on earth do Democrats think they can reason with these reactionaries. They have denounced every compromise the Democrats have made on health care.
And they will come after Blanche Lincoln no matter how many times she promises to enable the next Republican filibuster. What I really don't understand is who Blanche thinks will be standing with here when the Republican mob arrives with torches and pitchforks, after she has alienated her Democratic constituents.
Repubs are as ruthless as Bolsheviks, and Democrats be as successful in reasoning with Repubs as the Mensheviks were with the Bolsheviks.

If the republicans continue to provide a frick and frack version of the democratic party then they will continue to loose elections. If they fail to motivate their base they won't enjoy a win at the ballot box. Independents are ripe to make the switch back to republicans but they will not if the republicans keep nominating RINOs for office. McCain lost because millions of conservatives stayed at home because they refused to vote for democrat lite.

The resolution, officially called "Proposed RNC Resolution on Reagan's Unity Principle for Support of Candidates" or "PRICKS" for short.

Let me know when a viable INDPENDENT party shows. Until then, the stupid right will continue to eat themselves and we are left with one party rule. Unfortunately. Suck on that one as Friedman would say.

That's what fascists DO. Make up more and more oppressive "rules" until enough people shout, "Enough!"

Not surprisingly, Norma mistakes principles for rules.
Considering the election was basically a Democrat primary, writ large, it would behoove the Republicans to stop with the Dem lite nonsense. Bush faltered in trying to play nice with the Dems on the economy, and he was never really a storng Republican in the Reagan way.
It is funny to note, though, that while there are those that make the claim about Republican deficits and tax cuts, that the economies were always stronger under leaders like Reagan, are are some of you not old enough to remember the Misery Index under carter?
'NO' is a good enough answer when the question is 'how about we drive off this cliff?'
