Jim Holt for U.S. Senate?

Jim Holt, who got 44 percent of the vote as a Republican opponent to Sen. Blanche Lincoln in 2004, has not been coming to the phone for reporters.

But I've been monitoring his old website and it's been through an upgrade. Clicking the old url takes you now to jimholt2010.com

You can see above what it says.

The link on fund-raisers promotes a $1,000 fund-raiser at Ruth's Chris and a $100 event at Mad Pizza.

Raising funds for what? Jim Holt 2010. Whatever that means.

Maybe he's running for Benton County Quorum Court. Or maybe it's U.S. Senate. If so, that would make nine on the Republican side.

Play ball!

UPDATE: Tolbert adds more evidence that Holt is about to enter the race. Meanwhile on this front, operatives report Stanley Reed financial callers are hard at work (one from a fellow normally seen on a bond company's trading floor in the First Security building) pointing to a $1 million campaign chest by Dec. 31.

Probably just raising money to feed his family.

PV is right on. According to one far rightwinger Holt's job as state senator from Chickenopolis was
the best paying job he has held. At that time it paid $15,000 a yr plus per diem. A family of 11 can
sure eat more than that.

You know, some people will just not go away, and others will simply just not let them go away. Jim Holt got 40 per cent of the vote against Blanche. That is a thrashing. But ever since, the Republicans and the media have painted that as a victory.
I hope the Republicans do nominate him again. Believe me, he is the weakest possible candidate the GOP could run against
Blanche. More importantly, we ought to quit encouraging nuts.

Nay, bencodem, Holt will not go away. I wish he would leave springdale, find a group of wingnuts
in Texas who love his brand of nuttery more than Chickenopolis loves them some nuttery.

Holt is on a mission. Where and how he came by it would be good story in itself. Unsettled childhood, adoptive parents, the entire story of what often creates a person longing for strict law and order.

Hitler had such a youth, so did Karl Rove.

.

Question: How DOES Holt support his large family? What is his history, elwood?

I think it's way over the line to lump Jim Holt in with Hitler and Rove. They guy lives extremely frugal and his church helps them out. Anyone so unmotivated by money and greed can't be that bad. I don't agree with his politics or their having so many children, but I think he's a decent guy. I wish we had someone on our side willing to run that wasn't so preoccupied with money and power.

Holt lives in Washington County. Here's how you can tell the 2 Republican sects apart: Benton County Republicans love their money; Washington County Republicans love their Jesus (their Jesus, not yours). There's some overlap with the FBCS/Pinnacle Hills crowd though.

eLwood, thats highly out of line even for you. Look, I can't stand Jim Holt's politics either, but we both worship the same risen Christ. He is as much deserving of respect as you and I are entitled. Also, BentonCoDem, for what it's worth, Jim Holt ran ahead of Asa Hutchinson and I think the entire Republican ticket in 2006 when he was the nominee for Lt. Governor. No one should deny his potential to attact votes and with Stanley Reed in....Gilbert Baker and Reed knock each other out potentially giving a Jim Holt or a Kim Hendren a path to victory.

>>Question: How DOES Holt support his large family? What is his history, elwood?<<

Hellva question! I've seen his entire clan, minus Jesus Jim at thrift stores getting their clothes,
they hauled around in a 10 yr old big SUV with "Evolution is a Lie" written in large letters.

At one time The Moron News reported him as "counselor" with his local non-denominational fundie church. But that's a small church of only a few hundred souls. He has no college degree. He worked in the intelligence branch of U.S. military supposedly decoding stuff.

One political person watched him and his family campaign during a July 4, '04 parade over near Heber Springs where people in the parade tossed treats to the kids. She later told me all the Holt kids were sent out to pick up candy that was on the sidewalk and the street.
So they're frugal. Photos show he's getting pretty fat thus eating enough calories to make it through.

Some people have commented that the Duggars are sharing part of their TV-Overpopulation bounty with him. I don't know but they are close buddies.

Holt was reported to have an election consulting business last year. He was mgr of the campaign of the former Wal-Mart lawyer who ran against Courtney Henry for Ark Court of Appeals. Henry gave them a good whoopin.

.

11 years ago when i worked for an in patient psych facility in washington co, mr holt was the (either volunteer or very low paid) chaplain. so of course he told the kids (mostly low functioning and with mental illness of one kind or another) that their teachers were lying to them, that the earth was only 3000 years old, that dinosaur fossils were placed by scientists who wanted to turn people from god, ect. fun times. so would i want him as a senator? um, no. do i think he's in the same class as hilter? no. karl rove maybe but only cause they are both totally out of touch with reality.
