Well, if you haven't seen "The Woodsman" starring Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgewick, well, you're missing what could be Bacon's best performance to date. From the producers of Monster's Ball, the film follows Walter (Bacon) as he adjusts back to society after spending 12 years in prison for abusing children. Now while you might think this subject matter could get really disgusting really quickly, the film follows someone who knows there is something wrong with them and is trying to resist and overcome that part of himself.
The acting in this movie is insane. Usually when I think of Bacon, it's Footloose, A Few Good Men, etc. Not respected for his intense dramactic work, this film, which was a huge risk for everyone involved, will blow your mind with not only how understated and internal Bacon's portrayal of the main character and his demons are, but how real the whole story is. It's scary, in a good way, I think. I don't know where the award nominations were, but if there were ever a time to throw a Golden Globe or Oscar at Bacon, this was the time.
This isn't a feel gooder. This isn't first date, let's stay in stuff. It's a serious movie that you enjoy because it's so well made and so intriguing. I recommend renting it and I'm glad it popped up on my radar during some previews for I think "Elecktra" or something.

Well, apparently the internet is good for more than porn and instant messaging, seems the fans of CBS ill-fated disaster drama, Jericho, have been given a reprieve of sorts. After blowing up the show's message board, emailing executives and flooding chat rooms with "Why are they cancelling this show!!!!!", etc., CBS has decided to test the waters of reviving it. CBS has ordered a 7 episode, mid-season replacement for next year and to build on that, will be re-airing the critically acclaimed and viciously fan-protected show this summer starting July 6 with the pilot episode, in the 8PM (CST) slot. This is probably a lot better than it's original Wednesday slot that made it fight agains LOST and church and all sorts of stuff.
The catch, because there is always a catch with these networks, is that CBS will air the pilot, then the following week air a "recap" show that covers the first 12 episodes, and then start the summer run with the 13th episode which was originally the start of the "spring" portion of the first season. If that makes any sense to you, then you watch as much television as I do, and that's scary. So, how to see episodes 2-12, because the recap show is going to be terrible, they always are....hmmmm.....not on DVD yet, or so I think, I haven't looked.....hmmmmm.....oh wait, episodes 2-12 are available online at CBS's website. Brilliant. Now I can watch the first episodes online and then buckle up for the remainder of the season this summer. I'm personally excited because all of my non-LOST friends were all about this show, but I had to stick with my LOST and missed it, so here's my second chance, yes!
Jericho - Fridays - 8PM - CBS, watch it!(Here's more info if you want)
confidentially also excited about the new USA summer series Burn Notice, Mr. Rickey.
Now, Blair took over in 1997, which holds a special place in my heart and that of many others, for various reasons. I was in England for the better part of that year on a college trip and lived amongst the UK natives during his rise to power and the death of Princess Diana and all the drama that insued afterward(if you have not seen The Queen yet, do yourself a favor and Netflix it!). Mr. Blair, whom I assume will be knighted soon, was a pillar for the British people and for those around the world not only touched by the loss of "the People's Princess" (which I always thought sounded like she was some sort of professional wrestler), but also by his leadership of that nation as the number one ally of the United States and a staunch protector of democracy across the globe.
I have personally always admired Mr. Blair and his rhetoric infront of the British Parliament (if you haven't seen the BBC America or CSPAN coverage of the British Parliament, I recommend you sit down and watch it sometime, it's so much better than the WWE or cage fighting or whatever the kids are dreaming about now when they jump from the top bunk). I would love to see George Bush have to go infront of Congress every week and defend what he does with his executive powers, that would be interesting.
So without sounding too sentimental, I will miss you Tony, you are a true gentleman and I wish you and your family all the best. Especially since he will now be the special envow to the Middle East, trying to clean up a situation he was pulled into by our own mediocre leadership.
Tally-how, good show old sport, may you grow old enough to hear the songs they'll sing of you, yours, Mr. Rickey.

So.... Max and the IT guys figured out what the problem was with my margins exploding throught the right side of the screen. Apparently when I put up that notice about the missing kid, I copied and pasted the html. from the email and once I put it in here, drama insued. So I won't be doing that anymore, apparently it had it's own margin thingys or something, I don't know nothing about birthing no babies, so I'll try to refrain from using second-hand code and stuff.
That said, movable isn't the greatest user interface I've run across for anything and it sure doesn't like you using things outside of it and pasting in. Which I guess is sorta good, because it makes it difficult to get things in that might muck up the page, but I sure wish it were better suited for wordprocessing, first of all, this little window you type in is the worst, hello, why can it be any wider? And if you do that "full screen" thing, you have no editing buttons, what is the point of that? Apparently I need to get some second toolbar to use with that, but I don't know where or what that is, so I just don't use it. And I still can't figure out a spell check. Google toolbar won't work in movable, so y'all will just have to get over my spelling errors, sorry. I mean I like the blogging part, I don't like the technical part, this is why I need a personal assistant to dictate my blogging to. Much like my boss will email me letters to send out, like fully typed, addressed, formatted letters, that I just paste into word and print on letter head. I'm not complaining, but what sense does that make when all he has to do is print it and sign it, then give it to me?
Well, the problem is fixed, we hope. Now to try and get back to some real topics, like Why Muzak is legal?

UPDATE: According to National Voice For Children website, John Mashing was "recovered" on or around May 15th. Didn't get that message forwarded to me though. I assume "recovered" means alive, there's not a ton of info out there to ease worried minds, but none the less, recovered!![]()

Kid, call your parents, no matter what, they deserve to know you are alive.
Confidentially praying for a good conclusion, Mr. Rickey.
Well, apparently, blogging and I don't mix, or more specifically, Movabletype and I don't mix. For the three of you out there reading, you've noticed that on my main page the posts blow up a mile wide and the ads go all haywire, but when you go to the individual entry, everything is fine. I think movable is trying to drive me crazy. Well, it's messin with the money, honey, so if anyone has any ideas on how to get this to stop, holla back.
I have been dutifully typing in the "entry body" this whole time, no more copy and pasting from notepad. My pictures are under the width has specified by the IT guys and I haven't practiced any voodoo in years, so what's the deal?
Help Mr. Rickey, please!!!!!
