Sideways through Arkansas

A national wine website pays a visit to Arkansas wine country, a tour that includes, somewhat to our surprise,  a kind mention of Mount Bethel's near-legendary "Big Daddy" tawny port.

Note the alcohol content.

Aside from "driving to Altus on Highway 23 " being physically impossible, pretty good article.

I'm not sure I share the enthusiasm for the Big Daddy port (though I have had it), but appreciated the note on Post's wonderful Munson.

a port worth noting is Robert Cowie's, on over in Paris

Lots of luck trying to find any of these on a restaurant wine list around Little Rock. Why is it that the local hospitality industry won't even carry any Arkansas wines....especially the spots likely to get out-of-state tourist visitors?
