Take it away
We have a family crowd arriving shortly for dinner, so I'm going to have to leave the blogging to the world tonight. Your turn.

What's cooking? Peppered ham, squash casserole, broccoli slaw, sliced tomatoes, home-made yeast rolls, "Elvis' favorite pound cake" (pictured) smothered with Arkansas strawberries and some other odds and ends. Some day when I have time I'll put this squash recipe on the Eat Arkansas blog. I've hardly ever served it to a first-timer who didn't want the recipe and then subsequently used it often -- squash, onion, cheddar cheese, flour, eggs, milk, butter, salt, pepper.

Max- are both kids home?
I posted this earler under Fresh market
OK- here is the scoop after checking it out- Terrys Finer Foods and Silveks in the Heights are still my choice. ADD BOULEVARD BAKERY.
Fresh Market- no local produce- strawbwerries from CALIFORNIA??!! in Ark in May?
They have a few more cheeses, though many more packaging options BOULEVARD CAN GO TOE TOE ON CHEESES. Terrys has same fish choice except calamari.
Fresh does have lamb shanks, so that's worth a rare trip.
Terrys- call you by name, you wife by name, your kids ny name, your own charge acct-send the kids up there to shop, pay at the end of the month. The know what you like. Order it for you if they don't have. Call ahead and it is packaged and ready to go.
Silveks- the REAL deal bread and pastry-wise, PERIOD(and Mrs Silvek will call you by name AND FREE samples, along w/ the near give way day-old prices. DayOld, memories of depression era mother and the Food Palace days of yore. My mother shopped for day-old at the 9th street Food Palace branch across the street from Reds Pool Hall , a real eye opener to wait in the parked 2 door Chevy 3 on the tree w. daddy, for this young white boy- but thats all a story for another day). and while you are there KROGER sushi choice is better than Fresh, and you can buy inexpensive flowers for Mrs Diogenes on the days that is the politic thing to do for whatever trouble Mr D,yours truly is in, while you are there.
LOCAL BUSINESSES PROFITS STAY HERE IN THE COMMUNITY.
