Vegan, schmegan

David Koon reports:

Not that anyone reading the Eat Arkansas blog is in danger of  converting to a vegan diet (that is: no meat, but also no eggs or dairy  products), but in this interesting article from the New York Times  — and in light of yet another recent case in which strict-Vegan parents  literally starved their infant to death on a soymilk- and  apple-juice-only diet — dietitian and author (and former vegan) Nina  Planck explains why babies need meat for good physical and mental  development.

Comments

I hear there's also a big move on now to avoid wheat. Lots of folks, who have no wheat intolerance, are none-the-less going off bread and all wheat products.

Lord save me from crazy diets.

As an inexperienced parent I read that article with a feeling that...well...

Well...like those stupid books say first...

DON'T SHAKE THE BABY...

I take that in many, many different ways...
