A winner

Capriccio Grill, the Italian steakhouse that is the Peabody Hotel's main eatery, was the popular vote winner in the recent Taste of the Rock event held at the River Market by the Chamber of Commerce. Their offering to the crowd that was able to sample food from many LR restaurants: Grilled prime beef tenderloin served on a bed of haricots vert (that's green beans to you, chump), with honey mustard sauce and fried sweet potatoes.

They probably won because they served beef... according to the Arkansas Times review, any main dish out of their menu (besides the steaks) are awful.

haricots vert??? WTF? Before I got to your green bean explanation, I thought it might be a food item from Harry Potter's Hogwarts school.

Hubs and I stayed a nice weekend at The Peabody recently, and had a full meal from Cappriccio's...and came away fairly underwhelmed. While my potatoes au gratin were delicious (and deadly, with umpteen kinds of fat), our steaks (filet for me, prime rib for him) were definitely sub-par.

Of course, it didn't help Cappriccio's case that we'd just had yet another beyond-perfect dining experience courtesy of Peter Brave the night before. Tough act to follow, in my book.
