Beano
Likely inspired by Lindsey Millar's mouth watering post on pies below, my wife goes out and returns with what I think looks and smells like a sweet potato pie. But alas, no- its actually a bean pie. Thats right- bean pie.
Behold-
The Islamic Center on Wright Avenue has them for sell for 8 bucks. Thats a steal if you ask me.

I always got a bean pie from Omar the Pie Man at the N.O. Jazz Fest each year. Yummy. And I just loved the looks I got from friends as I convinced them to join in the bean pie frenzy.

I've never made bean pie but have had it once or twice. I think the recipe is much like pumpkin (or squash) pie. When I had a garden I made butternut squash pies for Thanksgiving.

Is it a sweet pie? A savory pie??
Bellyboy: I guess it depends on your definitions of sweet and savory, but it tastes sweet to me. Very much like sweet potato pie.
