Mariscos El Jarocho

In my quest to visit every single latino restaurant and taco stand in Southwest Little Rock, we came upon this gem  at 7102 Col Glenn Road a while back-

Ok- so it doesn't look like much- but the food is excellent, with a focus on Seafood.  But first- the Salsa Verde and Salsa Caliente-  both were excellent.

Camarones Diablo!   Muy Bueno!

Gorditas-

Prices are low and the food is authentic and plentiful.  The service, however, can be a turn off to some.  It helps if you speak Spanish (I don't) or if your date does (my wife is fluent).  They had a good time at my expense- thank goodness the menus are in english for the gringos.  Good selection of Mexican beer, but no wine or liqour.  A great little Latino grocery next door, a post for later in the week- so stay tuned.

You should try Los Jarros at 5412 Baseline. In a little strip mall but their sandwiches are killer. A Spanish-speaking colleague turned us on to this place. I ordered the Cubano sandwich. Amazing. We all got sandwiches and everyone was raving when we left. Cheap, too.

I went to Mariscos El Jarocho on Sunday. It was sublime.
Basically, in English, I had the steak fajitas, a shrimp tostado and a chicken tortillo. And lots of "melon water" and the Salsa Caliento (the green one).

A family runs the place, and every one of them wanted to make sure we enjoyed the meals. All I could do was say, "Si," rub my growing belly and smile.
