Quick Fixes


With such busy lives, we always seem to be looking for meals that can be prepared quickly. That doesn't mean, however, that we want to constantly eat stuff that tastes slightly better than the cardboard box it came in. What with that, we've pretty much taken this article from the New York Times as a godsend: 101 quick and delicious recipes that can be prepared in under 10 minutes, most from fresh ingredients. Courtesy of the NYT's on-the-fly gourmand Mark Bittman and his online column "The Minimalist," it's sure to move the average busy family's dinner menu light years beyond Rice-a-Roni.

Lotto machines

Shortly after the lottery launched in September 2009, the Times reported that the lottery commission would roll out ticket vending machines in the spring. There's no sign of them yet, but some legislators hope to ban the machines, saying they make it too easy for children to buy tickets. /more/
