Smokey and the Bandit
Steak Night at our homestead. The "Smokey" came from the soaked mesquite chips on the charcoal.
The "Bandit", well, thats the interesting part. I give you Arkansas' own Bandit's Famous Huntin' Camp Rub & Seasoning.
The label states:
"For Grilling & Smoking Fish, Fowl, or Meat. This rub and seasoning was perfected by Bandit after years of serving at hunting camps all over the South. For best results rub spices directly on the surface of your fish, fowl, or meat and let it sit a minimum of an hour.
Bandit is a Texican Terrier that now lives in Little Rock where he serves as Chief of Home Security for a local family. He enjoys eating and sleeping during his spare time. For more information call (501) 225-2800."
This wonderfull dry rub was purchased at the Arkansas State Capitol Gift Shop, but I'd bet that the Sauce Co. in the heights and a few other places also carry it. Salty at first, but tangy on the back end. I have to say it worked out great on the steaks seen above. I can't wait to try it on some fish or fowl.

I too LOVE Bandit Rub. I use it on everything I put on the grill or in the oven - fish, seafood, pork, beef...it is wonderful and gives your food a beautiful color and coating. I buy mine in West Little Rock @ Bennets Meat Market or Gene Lockwoods and love to give it to out of state friends as gifts or put in gift baskets. Buy Arkansas!

Bandit rub is so good that it makes my mouth water just thinking about it. I found it at Pleasant Valley Liquor and it tastes great with a good stiff drink!

This is hands down one of the best dry rubs I have had the pleasure of using. I have to slightly disagree with the author though. One of the reasons I regularly use Bandit Rub is because it doesn't over salt my meat like most commercial rubs. Hands down, my favorite use for Bandit Rub is adding it to "creek-bank potatoes." Slice potatoes 1/4 inch thick and toss them with melted butter and a generous amount of the rub. Place them in a foil pan or wrap in foil and cook on the grill above a low/medium flame. YUM! Bandit Rub is definitely worth trying if you haven't had the pleasure of doing so!
ARK. BLOG: Hmmmm. Why do I think commercial trolls might have infiltrated Eat Arkansas? But if Bellyboy likes it, that's OK with me. Meanwhile, has Sid Vicious's rub disappeared from the LR market? That's another good'un.

Bandit Rub is the best. I use it on just about everything I grill. It gives a great flavor to beef, chicken, or pork. I highly recommend it. It's another great Arkansas product.

Bandit Rub is pretty good, but the absolute very, most extremely best rub all of you out there should buy is hugh's famous authentic dry barbecue rub. This stuff is larrupin' good on anything. The creek bank potato recipe had me at thin sliced potatoes and melted butter, but it would be a mistake to put anything other than hugh's famous authentic barbecue rub inside that tin foil.
