Belly Boy goes to Cregeen's

These are my opinions only.  Let's start with the positive.  The ambiance is amazing.  I really liked the woodwork.

But lets talk about the food.  I've always found Shepherd's pie to be a bit different wherever you go (kinda like gumbo-everybody's is a bit different).  This one was a bit more traditional and covered with an entire layer of mashed potatoes.

And absolutely no vegetables-

Although to be honest, it was quite good- I just expected maybe a carrot or two.

The wife had the corn beef and cabbage.  Not excellent, but good.  But let's face it, it's a relatively bland dish to begin with.  Quite frankly, I'm not sure what an "excellent" corn beef and cabbage would taste like.

But there was certainly no complaining about the Guinness Chocolate Cake- talk about decadent.

All in all, it was a good night out.  They have a few glitches to work through- for instance we received a menu without any pages.  Our table distinctly lacked condiments or even salt and pepper.  But I suspect they'll work through it.  I look forward to another visit soon.

Cregeens does have some glitches to work out... but every new restaurant does. Cregeens offers an atmosphere, and drinks!, that rival any bar/restaurant in Little Rock. I'm a fan, and plan to frequent it often.

My husband and I tried Cregeen's for lunch, and it was overall pretty good, except for the mussels, which came out partially frozen. They were quickly remedied, however, after a little cussing (not at me) from the waitress. We had to sit a while too before getting any service, but I'll credit that to not being open too long and the lunch crunch.

Pretty good pub fare. And that's what it's supposed to be. Not gourmet. A few Irish musicians play in the place at different times. Very cool.

Where is Cregeen's?
