That other Indian Place

Kabob and Curry at the Marketplace shopping center on Rodney Parham.  We ate here when it first opened and quite frankly, I wasn't impressed.  A friend suggested I give it another shot.

Lets get the negative out of the way.  First, if you advertise that you open at a certain time, then be open.  Not 30 minutes later. Sorry- it's just a pet peeve.  Second, and more importantly, why no saag paneer on the buffet?  The humanity!

But how was the food you ask?  Outstanding.

The lamb and sweet potato dish (forefront) was excellent, and the butter chicken wasn't too shabby either.  The eggplant and potato mix was very spicy and savory.  All in all, I'm glad I gave it another go.  Lesson learned- always give a place a second try.

No saag paneer? Heck, that's a "must have" at Star! I do wish they'd get different lighting. I haven't been there for lunch, but the bright florescents are harsh at night.

We tried this place, too. Several of us went for lunch and the buffet was almost empty. Only the sauce was left in three of the four meat dishes offered. We asked if they could refill the buffet, as it was only 12:45. We waited until almost 1 and not one dish was refilled. What we did try was great, but we all felt short changed. The staff seemed more concerned with smoking outside than cooking food we'd paid for. When such a good alternative is available only five minutes away, I don't know that I'll ever make it back to the strip mall.

Belly Boy: I agree with you. Based upon the two times that I have visited, they will never, ever win an award for good service.

And when you only have two Indian restaurants in the same town, comparisons are inevitable. Star of India will always win that contest based on service AND food. But the food was pretty good this time around at Kabob and Curry, which was the point of the post.
