Eat Argenta

Scott Miller, tireless promoter of all things Argentan at his Argenta News website, reviews the heaping Irish breakfasts at Cregeen's, now available at Sunday brunch, too, and also touts Argenta Seafood, which opens to the public tonight (Monday, Dec. 3.) and which is shown in another of his photos on NLR's increasingly vibrant Main Street.

Dropped by the seafood place Friday evening to check it out... according to the folks up front, the place is "reservations only," so you need to plan well ahead of time.

May go back in a couple of years, maybe...

I had dinner at the Argenta Seafood Company last night. I got a reservation.

It was horrible.

My bouillabaisse lacked any depth of flavor because the broth was so weak. Companion's shrimp bisque had similar issues. It was not rich at all, which is what you expect from a bisque, right?
The side of crab legs were rubbery and impossible to crack and the meat stubbornly clung to the inside of the leg making it hard to get to.

The smoked salmon rockefeller was spectacular, as was the service.

A note about the decor and feel of the place, it was cold, cavernous and loud. I could barely here companion throughout the meal because everyone else around us was echoing.
