Scotch Eggs
If anyone is interested in trying a new fried dish, I just ran across this recipe for Scotch Eggs. Basically, you take a hard-boiled egg, cover it in sausage, then bread it, fry it, and eat it. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has seen some interesting fried dishes (queen of fried Paula Deen once wrapped a chilled piece of macaroni and cheese in bacon and THEN friend it), but this one actually looks pretty appealing, and I'm inclined to try it out.
Has anyone actually had these before?

Cregeen's Irish Pub has Scottish Eggs on its brunch menu. Thought it looked good, but I haven't tried them.

Never tried Scotch Eggs...not sure that I actually would, but I also saw Paula deep fry Thanksgiving DRESSING!!!
That's right...she took cornbread dressing, put it on a stick, dredged it in flour and then deep fried it! I nearly died! I've made her Lady and Sons Macaroni and Cheese before, and it takes me back to my Great Grandmother's table, but sometimes she goes too far!

I had these many times at Dan McGuinness in Memphis -- they're very good, especially with a little spicy mustard.

No, but I want to try shirred eggs, which involves cooking them in an individual ramekin in the oven until the whites are set but the yolk is still semi-liquid. (i prefer the creamy soft yolk over the dry hard boiled.) Lots of variations for shirred egges. You can put in some cream, vegatables, etc. I came across this last night in Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything.

Scotch eggs are kind of a northern thing. They are always a big hit at the Minnesota state fair, served on a stick, of course. They are amazingly delicious.

Married to a Scot- even Scots are dubious of Scotch eggs, altho they are genuine Scots 'cuisine'.
