Salut!

A team of local restaurateurs, including Chris Tanner (Cheers in the Heights), Dave Bisceglia (Dave & Ray’s) and New Orleans chef Matthew Ratcliff, will open Salut! at Prospect Place on Monday, May 12, in the first floor of the Prospect Building on Grant St., one block south of Cantrell. Under the direction of Ratcliff, the restaurant will offer “contemporary cuisine with a Southern accent.” Initially, Salut! will be open Monday through Friday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., with dinner hours following a few weeks later. A Salut! cooking club will begin in June, and the Salut! wine club will begin in July. The restaurant’s address is 1501 N. University; the phone number is 660-4200.

Here's a link to the lunch menu.

Comments

The menu looks uninspired. The dishes are either boring retreads, uninspired versions of the standard fare, or muddled and confused combinations meant to seem "contemporary."

Then again, this goes back to a discussion on this blog about what restaurants succeed in this market.
