Watermelon weather

It's Cave City Watermelon Festival time this weekend and Kat Robinson at Tie Dye Travels has all the details to get you motoring that direction for all the free melon you can eat. There's music and more, of course.

We usually find a truck full
of Hope melons on 7 south,
near entrance to DeGray
state park.......
its about time to go have a
looky look.

I must be a communist. I don't care for watermelon.

Ohhhh Bop, thats a sin,
get thee to confession.

I know. Mama never understood either.

The only food avoidance I ever
had was corn, especially the hominy or grits thingie. I learned early on that corn makes good pig food.
But melons are food for gods or the god within you.

Good Job Kat! I just asked my sweetie how she would like a trip tomorrow...should she check with hospital on staffing needs...but anyway we have family birthday stuff to do. Shit! I was ready for some down home stuff and the temp drop up here makes traveling a half a day a nice anticipation.

I never miss a good watermelon gathering. brings out the best in everybody and up here there are few local producers so we get that Texas stuff resembling melons.

Just a bit of info for AR readers: Hope is known for the biggest watermelon in the guiness book of records. Cave City is known for the sweetest watermelon, and in my humble opinion, is the best.
They are available as far south as Greenbrier in July-August and worth the try!
