New Indian restaurant

I got this note today from a reader:

We just ate at a new Indian restaurant.  It is in the location of an old restaurant at Rodney Parham Rd. next to Lily's Dim Sum.  It is very good and much better than the predecessor.  It is called Amruth.  It is definitely worth checking out - excellent food.
I hope this proves to be a reliable report. The previous Indian restaurant at that location was dreary -- tiny portions of mediocre food at exorbitant prices with poor service.

YES!

This is good news for me. Indian food is my favorite ethnic cusine. I am so there.

Sami has really spoiled us on good Indian food. What I found at Kebab & Curry was much more reminiscent of Anglicized curries -- heavy on the English influence. Besides, who else but Sami can remember customers so well -- down to my husband's own fondness for a heck of a lot of extra heat in his vindaloo?

Gosh, I don't think I can bring myself to cheat on Sami like that.

For the record, I did try that Kebab & Curry place one time...just trying to get some food to go. It took *forever* and it didn't hold a candle to the food quality I'm so accustomed to at The Star--not to mention the social warmth.

I feel bad trying something new at Star sometimes because of Sami's preternatural ability to recall what I had ordered years ago.

I liked Kabob -n- Curry when I went, but I also experienced the time issues.

Sami is amazing. I took some visiting ethnic Indians from Fiji to Star of India and he knew someone they knew back home. And they loved the food.

i am glad for a little bit of lively culinary competition for sami, but like the rest, it's hard to beat star of india for all of the great service and good....

kebab and curry was alright for change a long time ago, but as max said-it was mediocre/exorbitant.....

and at times, rude!
